These are very informative for anyone struggling to figure out what's happening with their diabetic or pre-diabetic symptoms or learning to recognize these symptoms and what to do about them. My struggle occurred when as a prediabetic. I wanted to reduce meat protein and increase my consumption of beans, legumes and lentils. Worked well for a about 3 months. Then I noticed that after dinner I started feeling quite cold and my extremities even colder. When back to my old reduced carb diet and the problem resolved. Mind you, I increased my water intake significantly. That helped too. I would like to know what was going on....I do like beans, legumes and lentils.

Thank you for the comment. This is an interesting scenario, do you have a certified diabetes educator and/or pharmacist that might be able to answer this for you specific case? Those are healthy choices, have you been able to stay within range with your sugars since going back to low carb?

@@FriendlyPharmacy5 I was diagnosed as a prediabetic in 2017. I work diligently on my diet and exercise to avoid crossing the threshold to diabetes. So I don’t take any medication yet. I’m a senior and don’t qualify for a glucose monitor and strips or a consultation with a diabetic educator. I get my A1c tested through my physician. Since 2017 I have managed to maintain an A1c at ~5.5 until I adopted more plant based diet and reduced meat. A1c increased to 5.9; physicians advise was to reduce carbs. I’m doing quite well now, however I haven’t been able to find information on my peculiar symptoms. I am grateful I don’t experience them any more. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Good video, but I did not hear what is considered a normal glucose range?

Great question - I have other videos on this topic as well however, the unit of measure varies depending on which country you are from. Generally, for non-diabetic patients, Fasting Blood Glucose (after at least 8 hours of no food): American units (mg/dL): 70-99 mg/dL Canadian units (mmol/L): 3.9-5.5 mmol/L. Good sources of information would be the American Diabetes Association and Canadian Diabetes Association. Again, these numbers may vary based on whether a person is diabetic, and whether medications or other chronic disease states are impacting the body's ability to maintain normal blood sugar levels. I hope this helps!
