I came here looking for a Space Rip review, I'm looking to get one for some one of song ideas, and because I think they're pretty interesting. I have an old Ibanez Fuzz that has a similar crazy octave to it, good stuff.

Oh, that first pedal made me laugh till I cried, thanks, laughs are invaluable! If my guitar sounded like that I would take it to the repair guys. Also, I am often amused by the things you pull out of your hat while playing, seemingly you know or can play off the top of your head just about anything-“pictures of matchstick men”? Had totally forgotten ( happily) that one. Loving your channel!

Fun pedal designs. I notice that they chose not to do much filtering on the delay, which is actually nice since you can get pretty hi-fi sounding analog delays at shorter settings. It would be interesting to be able to compare the Constellator with other MN3005-based pedals, like the Xvive Echoman, the Supro Analog Delay, or even Chase Bliss Tonal Recall, but I'm sure you don't just have those pedals lying around :-)
@erikzen13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review. I'm intrigued by all of these pedals. I'd be most interested in the Moon Pool for my small amp/cab sim board. I already have a Hydra for reverb and trem so had been thinking of just getting a Phase 95. You raise a good point about it being supplemental to a more traditional trem. Then again the ramp filtering alone seems like it's worth the price of admission.

I was wondering if you could help me with a Pedal question? What is the difference between a Delay and a Echo pedal? I was wanting to play Apache and I think I need an Echo pedal but do not know which one to try or a Delay? Maybe a Carbon Copy Analog Delay? Thank You!!
@60CycleHumcast3 жыл бұрын
Delay and echo are kind of similar things. Any analog or digital delay will get you there with some tweaking. Hank Marvin used a tape echo/delay on that recording and if I remember right it was modified in some way so the repeats had a gallop to them. You could spend a lot of money and time trying to recreate it exactly lol.

You should check out the ehx canyon, it’s got a lot of options. Imo the carbon copy (even the bright) is too dark for my tastes.

@@60CycleHumcast Does SLAP BACK mean the same as Delay? There are so many knobs and buttons on some of the models. So I have a Jaguar, a Carr Rambler amp and soon a Surfy Reverb but just was looking for a simple echo delay that does not change the sound with all the different textures I am hearing on some of the pedals. Did find your 4 year old video on the pedal you recommended but the stomp button seems to be somewhat complicated as it changes depending how many times you stomp on it, so I am somewhat confused at this point? The mxr carbon copy seems pretty simple, only 3 knobs?

Yep, like most folk, I have a HEALTHY obsession with delay units, it's NORMAL OK. I do feel like I can get on with life again once I know what's going on under the hood. It sounds analogue, there's some characteristics of a pt2399 chip, but it feels like some of the rough edges have been rounded off, is it a digital emulation? I'm not going to buy one and open it up. No, really, I got kids shoes to buy, seriously I have enough (to fill a bath tub) delays already.
@TheHuckleberrythin3 жыл бұрын
@@60CycleHumcast couldn’t find a gut shot. I do know they are using the Xvive mn3005 chip. Pigtronix and Xvive also share designers Howard Davis (DMM/Mothership) and Ray Heasman (Echolution 2/Infinity looper 2).

Is it just me or does the Pigtronix Constellator Analog Delay (Paint Job Aside), seem like an exact clone of the Xvive V21 Echoman Analog Delay? The Xvive being a close clone to the Original EHX Big Old Memory Man from the 80s. One of the original Memory Man Enginners made it possible as well supposedly. I own the Xvive anyway and it kills the Smaller Reissued Ehx Memory Mans by far to my ears. With all that Analog Tone Darkness and Spaceship Sounds...
