I really appreciate how you throw balls on the exact same shot to show the difference between the two. So many ball reviews go ahead and make a shift to compensate off rip because they understand the balls react different. Not everyone understands that. So showing how the balls differ in the same spot and then make the change is so important.
@odellus2 жыл бұрын
i don't like the way the hook war has phased out true low-end reactive. i get it, most bowlers need the extra help, it makes business sense, but for guys with high rev rates bowling on lots of friction, it's basically impossible for us to play right of 3rd arrow with modern equipment, even with short pins. the original tropical is the only reactive ball i've ever been able to do that with and i really miss having that shape in my bag. league is so much easier when you can just stand on top of the friction and not have to worry about what's going on in the middle of the lane.
@noahwhipkey62622 жыл бұрын
ahah its ok it just means you get to pay less for "worse" equipment :). or just drill pin down honestly. let the urethane wars resume! then i can throw a phaze 2 for 3 games straight and try to cheat a 900 xD
@Daniel-cp2ps2 жыл бұрын
I'm old enough to remember the mid to late 1990's. We were using blue hammers, rhino pros etc over 2nd arrow then, almost over night, we found ourselves standing over the gutter cap for the first game. It took a long time for the oil technology to catch up with the balls.
@PaulwardP2 жыл бұрын
As a high rev high speed bowler, I agree. Once you have to move too far left, you have to slow down your speed or else you end up sliding though the oil on the outside. Having a lower reactive ball would let you play the middle in later games.
@bradmorgan37972 жыл бұрын
I’m glad I’m speed dominant. I just throw over second arrow. For 2 games. Then move 3 and 2 for the last game and shoot 2 teen average. My problem is when I face a whole team of high rev players, trying to get the ball to come back when I stand farther left.
@levii444442 жыл бұрын
@@PaulwardP same here, a trick i found was to flatten your hand position a bit and throw it extremely hard at the friction with a big solid asym like a gem, itll bounce off the friction and just lay there kinda, which makes it so much easier to control on the fresh
@leftyMOTIVguy2 жыл бұрын
I bowl at two different centers with different lane surfaces. One has the Brunswick lanes and the other one has the AMF lanes. I have to bring a little bit of different arsenals to each. It really shows how the lane surfaces make a big difference with ball motion and shape, especially on the left side. Surface is key on the left side.
@nnacpil2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for explaining how you would attack the short pattern and the reasoning behind it. Makes sense carrying down the oil with Urethane then changing to reactive.

I typically bowl in 3 centers. One is a lane with high friction to the gutter, and low oil volume. Can almost never use my stronger equipment. I got there to practice burn shots (because even though the pattern is dry they still don't oil it but like 2-3 times a week) and also coast to coast shots. The 2nd center I go to has wood lanes, so I don't have much fun there. My equipment doesn't grab the lane until really late, so I have to play really straight, and my scores are lower because the ball just skidds. The 3rd center is the nicest out of the 3, I only bowl there once a week. Nice oil volume, nice friction, I can play any ball and any line that I want to.
@samcooper18862 жыл бұрын
Two centers currently. Also, doesn't drilling the pin out make the diff a little lower? Hyped solid might need a stronger layout to get through the pins a little bit better. Another thing I have been noticing with some of the storm balls the surfaces are sometimes shiny or not exactly as they should. I wonder if either a stronger layout on the hyped or fresh 2000 would have worked better on the hyped vs the phaze 2. Keep up the great reviews very helpful.

I bowl in 2 different houses, the first is on fresh house shot, the second is 2nd shift transitioned house shot. My benchmark is IQ Tour Solid. I also use the IQ Tour Pearl. I've been successful balling up to my Rubicon Solid, and a polished UFO Solid. The UFO polished works great on the transition lane 3rd arrow. I visited a proshop to ask about getting the Phase ll, and was told that my Rubicon would be a duplication of the Phase ll, because it's core was made to simulate a symetrical solid with a weight hole. The Rubicon being asymmetrical just finishes harder. Does this make sense for not considering the Phase ll?

I bowl in 3 Leagues. Current arsenal is: Prism Solid Phaze 2 Spectre (all non sanctioned leagues) Zen (pin down) Hustle RAP Thinking hyped solid btwn my P2 and spectre/ zen. Monday is 8 Lane house that just changed its Oil Pattern and wondering if the Hyped Solid would be good btwn Phaze 2 and my zen pin down. As the phaze 2 reads too early for some reason in this league that's 40' Wednesday is Synthetic heavy oil lanes using Praism Solid or Phaze 2 games 1 and 2. Friday wood lanes. Phaze 2 is almost too strong for that house so Hyped solid might be great there as well. Great video and def helped show what the Hyped solid would do and where it fits in the bag.

I've noticed that in ball review videos the bowler always moves left and right. I find that sometimes moving forward or backward on the approach does the trick. If I'm coming up short and hitting the face, I take a couple of steps forward -- more or less -- and this often helps. You can also move back and try for more leg speed and a faster throw. Ideally for me, I'm always searching for the least possible effort on my part, so moving forward without the exertion of leg speed suits me fine. Oh, to be 25 again, but I'm pushing 60.
