Late to this and it's definitely a case of Mary Sue Alice but in re3 (ps1) Jill can waste several shotgun shells,handgun bullets,grenades and magnum rounds before dropping that behemoth for a moment and other times just shove him from great heights like the strongest person alive. Atleast they didn't have a hand to hand battle to the death though. Alice could never make him see stars like Jill could.

I agree on 1, 2, 5 and 6, but 3 and 4 are kinda excessive. You gotta remember these movies have a thing called budget, and that budget has to go through casting, and makeup and practical effects, things like these. And we gotta remember, this is a movie about Raccoon City as much as it is about Jill and Nemesis, so casting a bunch of people to play zombies and Lickers and all of that would be kind of hard to do. Especially when they have to build sets and props and costumes. Also, 7, that could be cut too, since some of the music from the games was reused from classical musicians like Beethoven, with only a few original songs to spice things up. It started having more original songs after RE 4 onwards, but RE 1 through 3 was pretty obvious about it (Moonlight Sonata, anyone?). Plus, if you only used songs from the games, all you'd have is a playlist of the best songs of Resident Evil, like it was with the Silent Hill movie, and we all saw how _that_ turned out.

Looking at how Resident Evil: The Final Chapter retconned the origin of the T-Virus to be made by someone else, for the exact same reasons, it could have been a cleaver way to bring Angela Ashford back into the story, revealing that Alice was a clone of her the whole time and tying the previous films together. 9:35 Barry Burton has a point. In reality S.T.A.R.S. should be able to flank Nemesis, and learn its weaknesses. I think that's what S.T.A.R.S. did before the events of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, as some S.T.A.R.S. members still survived their first encounter with Nemesis. In Resident Evil: Apocalypse, however, S.T.A.R.S. are a bunch of morons who do nothing but act as redshirts so the writer (Paul W.S. Anderson) can make HIS character look better by comparison. Hell, Alice is the protagonist of Apocalypse, whilst Jill was the main character in Nemesis, so I think the resulting movie was executive meddling, like the director wanted to do a faithful adaptation of the third game, but the writer and executives screwed with it.

Phelan, you REALLY should've talked about what was probably one of the stupidest moments in the movie: The scene where Angela's car gets SMASHED TO PIECES by a random truck for no fucking reason other than plot convenience. And the truck doesn't even stop or swerve afterwards, just keeps on going like nothing happened. And it's never even brought up again. Why did that truck destroy Angela's car, and why wasn't there an explanation for what caused it to do so? I'm certain that the T-Virus couldn't have gotten THAT far into the city at that point in the movie, so I doubt that the driver was infected, or why it took Umbrella so damn long to try recovering her until AFTER the infection was widespread. Phelan, if you still reply to your comments, could you share your opinion on the scene since it went unmentioned in the video?

Great review as always. After watching the Mike Epps stand up comedy special on Netflix I have to say that he is a poor choice for comedy relief. His special needed comedy relief... That's just my opinion though. I don't get why Hollywood thinks we need comedy in our horror/thriller movies. Like if I don't laugh I will be too scared to watch the rest of the movie. It would be interesting to see them make a true adaptation of the game. When I played the first RE game I was in 6th grade, it scared the crap out of me at that time. It was the first game that got to me like that and I loved it!

I watch Resident Evil movies all the time it's my guilty pleasure. After I watch one sometimes I like to watch your review of that movie cause you catch something and describe it such a funny way makes me laugh out loud , for real,lol, I've seen them all many times! the "my shit is custom" line is equivalent to the "oh pleeeeeaase" tow truck guy from men in black who was going to tow the cockroach alien's bug van and should have ended the same way: showing someone that you have a gun too does not stop them from shooting you with theirs which is already pointed at you.

Not gonna lie this is actually my favourite RE movie. Like they actually tried with this one. Jill was bad ass, Nemesis looked amazing, plus we also get to see Raccoon City, Carlos, and friends, and even some S.T.A.R.S team members :)

I actually liked this movie. Until I learnt about the games it was based on, and how badly it bastardised their characters. Woman with super powers fights zombies with exploding motorcycles, I’m there every time. But the way the directors Mary Sue upstages the actual characters at every turn is beyond insulting. I mean Paul couldn’t even let Jill blow up some zombies without Alice stealing the spotlight.

Even though we lost hope after Apocalypse, I think this was the best sequel we got, mainly because it’s the closest we’ll ever be getting a live action Resident Evil film that is close to the source material. Beyond Apocalypse, just forget it.

Just watching this review before Resident Evil 3 Remake comes out next week. Playable demo promises as good treatment as RE2 got last year, and unlike this film series, the games series is looking to have a renaissance age.

i have a theory that everything after this is just alice's dying fever dream. jill and friends made it out alright and went on to battle umbrella in a much better film series that we never got to see.

I remember when I first heard of the movie and saw the bits from the movie showing Nemesis and I had so much hope about the series (lets be real, the first Resi Movie was not Citize Kane, but it was decent enough)
