NumWorks should've taken the path Casio did, not restricting their calculator for absolutely no reason at all, if the company intended the calculator to be open to programmers, then IT SHOULD BE KEPT that way.

I heard it was after pressure from the Dutch government, it was allowed one year later for Dutch exams. I live in the Netherlands, why couldn't they just make two versions (black snd and white?) or disable the exam mode LED for custom roms?

One solution would have two different hardware sets. One can be locked for tests and useful for students while an open platform would be available for adults.

That could definitely be a good idea! For engineers or other jobs that use calculators a lot, they could still use the features, while teachers would not have to worry about cheating.

I really wanted to get Numworks, I loved the idea of open firmware as I'm primary Linux and strong proponent of open source sw. But this behavior put me off. I understand that for use in schools it's kinda needed, but can't we just get a different model what's fully open, in for example black making it easy to spot? But to be honest after this switch It would take a lot for people to build up trust in the company.

Any other calculators that you can easily develop besides ti 84 plus ce,, and nspire? Also, you can still get some programs on it and run NES games etc.

The Casio fx-cg50 (or Graph 90+e if you live in Europe) is another good option! Or, if you're interested in TI calculators, the TI-84+ (older monochrome model) is another good option.

Are new Numwork calulactors uptated to what versino again?! Also, are they only seliing numwork 120 version now?!

New Numworks calculators will have the latest OS version. The N0120 is exclusive to Portugal as far as I'm aware, I think the latest model for the rest of the world is the N0115.

Also, I was the link in the description for newer locked numwork calculators, are those apps still available and working?! If they dont work im not going to return my ti 84 plus ce.

I'm confused, are you talking about a TI-84 Plus CE or a NumWorks? The resources in this video do not work on the TI-84 Plus CE, they only on the NumWorks. arTIfiCE, cabri junior, and Cesium do not work on the NumWorks, they only work on the TI-84 Plus CE.

@@emiliochissell274 I believe they still work, but I don't use the latest version. You could maybe ask on the Omega discord server? And no, that person who said that may have been confused, but arTIfiCE definitely doesn't work on the NumWorks. :)

Why are the best calculator resources in French??? Especially TI, you'd think the best online forums would be US-based since TI owns the US school market.

Cemetech is a very large English-speaking forum for TI calculators. The NumWorks calculator's market is almost entirely in France though, which is part of the reason that most resources for it are only in French. Thankfully google translate is always there if you need it though!

I'm a 55-ish year old, who had hp-28c and hp-28s back in his highschool days. Took me 2 years to save up for those, and the 28-c got stolen from me within a month :( Anyway, maybe it's end-of-life depression, but I've gotten the calculator bug recently. I still have a hp 48gx from college. Then bought the Prime. Recently just made my first TI purchases with the Nspire 2 CAS and 84 CE Plus Python. Would like to get my hands on a Casio CG-50 and a NumWorks - but I don't want my wife to kill me, so I need to back off on buying calcs for a bit :) (hoping to sneak in those purchases this Fall - especially before the CG-50 goes away) Your videos and especially your resource links are so helpful. You've given me much to occupy my mind, as I was in desperate need of some sort of hobby (besides work). Thanks again. You put out FANTASTIC content for this niche subject!
