Apples and oranges. Two different styles of music. Many technically proficient drummers cannot play latin based rock, and Latin based drummers cannot do everything. As a fan of progressive rock since I was old enough to understand it, and being a drummer myself for over 3 decades, the kids doing better than alright. Remember, he's also laying down earlier, more complex genesis tunes and nails those as well. He's not even 22 yrs of age yet, and while that's still no excuse, he's well on his way to being a superb drummer. Great, you judged a man's entire career based on one song. What have you done?? You going to judge George Harrison's entire career and abilities because of 'Gone Troppo' or something else that's not his best? Phil Collins was the lead singer and drummer for Genesis for 8 albums (most of which were still prog rock albums), and drummer and backup singer for 4 Genesis prog albums before that - most of which was before his solo career. He, Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson are the only 3 people to have gone platinum in a band, and then platinum solo. He has an iconic voice, and is widely regarded as one of the best drummers in rock music. He also invented the gated reverb drum sound that is now synonymous with the 80's. A lot of people give Phil grief for embracing pop in his later career, but Peter Gabriel did the same thing in his career, yet people just ignore that fact and just blame Phil for "selling out". But the same imbeciles will scream like little fan girls over Beatles pop and not see the hypocrisy.
