Well sorry to be so late getting to this, but Happy Birthday Phil. I first heard you at my high school in '71 on the Synergy album. Then saw you live the first time at Grove City college in '73. It was like 30 degrees outside and I couldn't believe you could play in that cold, but play you did! Been a fan ever since. Thank you for 50 years of inspiration!

One of the world's best "unknown" guitar heros. Everybody's heard of Clapton, Frampton, Page and even Beck but some greats just don't get heard enough. I still remember standing in front of my little stereo sometime in the '60's and my friend said "this guy is really good, like Jeff Beck" and it was "Glass Harp". A few years later I met a guy named Vinnie (whose picks I've been using for about 20 years), who played me a solo he had learned note for note off an album called "Love Song". So, I still get to hear Phil from time to time. He, like JB and a few others still with us, seems to just get better with time. I'm 68, arthritis, etc., limits me to guitars with scalloped necks and Strandbergs with the amazing "ergonomic" neck, but I like these guitars better, but Phil sounds good on any kind of "git-box". Anyway, back to- Thanks Phil for blessing and continuing to bless all us who've heard you for these many years.

A mutual friend of ours took me backstage to meet Phil during the intermission of a show he did here in Maryland a few years back. I mentioned in our conversation how much I loved Tell Me How You Feel and Love Divine (I suspect probably not as well known as many of his other songs) - as it takes inspiration from my very fave Beatle song All My Loving. He was kind and generous taking time to chat with me, which I’ll always cherish. To my surprise, during the second half of the show, he played Love Divine! Im not sure if it was on the planned set list or not, but I’ve always thought he decided to add it in after I mentioned to him how much I liked it. I’m pretty sure I remember our friend Dave telling me later that’s why he included it. 😊❤️ Previous memory.
