I agree. That example of the radio guy sounded so fake to me, I don't know how they all thought it sounded real. It sounded like his voice but you could tell it a computer speaking the words in his voice. It didn't have the normal voice mannerisms a human would have and I don't think today's screen babies would be able to recognize that.

There's a difference between hearing oneself speaking and hearing a recording of one's own voice; while that doesn't necessarily mean that one doesn't recognise one's own voice, it does indicate a difference. I recall being shocked to hear that my recorded voice sounded to me more like that of one of my brothers. We don't appear to have that problem with others, so the example of the Governor that objected to his own voice, while his family didn't doubt it, is most likely par for the course.

Interesting...Frightening... In the sample taken of the gentleman at the end of show, the AI version sounded like a "sterile" version of him; it lacked the "animation" of him in person. Maybe because saw/heard so close to each other. I would like to hear the real guy read that script as if he means it and I think differences would stand out. However, that does not mean that just hearing the AI version out of the blue would be as easily recognizable. Like hearing a few seconds of a presidential candidate on a commercial with their picture - we Expect it to be them so are not questioning (unless maybe what they say seems "off"? ). We tend to be so busy that we turn off our critical thinking brains with all the media coming from every direction and just take what is said as truth - also how propaganda, repeated over and over...by those who purport to be "news journalists" brainwash many people to believe/accept what is being "reported".
