I watched a documentary about Phil's life and it features his dear old mum very frequently and there's a point in it where she is asked about his drug use and subsequent passing and her reply stuck with me for years... "PHILIP! YOU'RE A NAUGHTY BOY!" She exclaims as if he can hear her from above, a loving mum scolding but in a way that wasn't condescending or patronising... just sweet, pure and with an energy and freedom that instantly gave me an "a ha moment" as I saw where Phil got certain facets of his personality from. The link was right in front of me! What a beautiful strong lady... what a Mum.

Imagine all the songs still in limbo from Phil. There is reportedly a trove of demos and missing tapes that were either discarded or stolen after his death, he was very prolific during and after Lizzy, such a shame that all that music will most likely never see the light of day. This video is a reminder of the vulture culture that existed in the music business, his lyrics are a response to those labels that turned their back on him. Nothing has changed in the music industry, its far worse today. God Bless you Phil, I will always listen!

Phil and Huey Lewis and Eddie Money were all friends. Phil came to the Bay Area in the states and did some gigs with both. But I think he came to Oakland for the smack mostly. It was about the same time Eddie almost killed himself snorting what he thought was cocaine, turned out to be fentinol. Eddie wrote No Control describing the near death experience. Around that same time('81-'82)Phil got fuckface Geldof to snort a line of fentinol and then Phil proceeded to unsuccessfully try and get in Paula Yates pants while fuckface Geldof was puking his guts out. I always wondered if there was a connection there between the two incidents even though one happened in US and the other in Europe.

Phil Lynott I know who you are, I know you very well and have for the vast amount of my life, since I was just a very young boy walking over the Connemara hills, mountains and across valleys on my way to and back home from school, This man Phil Lynott comes walking into my life, my mind and refreshes my memories each and every day/night, sometimes several times during a 24 hour period, Reminding me of the times my 6 brothers and I went to see Thin Lizzy playing all over the lands. Phil never gives me a warning or knocks on my door, he just steps right in like any old friend would do, sometimes he has got all the Thin Lizzy lads with him, other times it is just Phil all on his own, he will pull up a stool, set down and sing some songs also tells me stories of long age, about the very ancient past also of now and warning about the future. Phil is always happy and full of life, Phil leaves without any warning but I do not worry as I know that Phil will be back later on. Phil was no pretender, he was the real deal, he was the total Rocker, poet, storyteller, frontman, the leader of the pack and the crowds and he was and still is loved by all. . It has been said that Phil with Gary, Peter Green, Rory Gallagher and many other greats have been seen on stage together down at Kingdom Hall, not only was the building packed to the rafters but you could not find space to walk down the streets outside, all full packed with people who came just to hear the sound of those boys belting out their music. Using the same words of the other very great master of rocking music Rory Gallagher Thanks A Million Phil Lynott for the man you were, the power and belief and strength that you gave to millions of people all over this world.
