@@vondoromal7016 New Washington Aklan oysters are the closest to oysters that I saw when I lived in Louisiana. Definitely, a lot cheaper.

Hi guys, I love the scenery of the road trip, and Marie loves seeing the rice fields! You're killing me Ginno, because I love oysters Rockefeller, especially with a dash of tobacco hot sauce. That dengue is no joke, and since it can cause a fever of 104 °F which can result in a lowering of platelet and white blood cell counts, be extra vigilant because you are still in the recovery stage from radiation treatment. Take care my brother and we love you all.

Dazel and I always think of you and Marie every time we film road trip sceneries because we know how much you appreciate them. We also think of you when we go fishing because we know you are an avid fisherman. I actually never had oysters Rockefeller until I tried it at New Washington Aklan. I was hooked! It's now my favorite dish in the Philippines. I'll have to try it next time with Tabasco sauce. A friend actually gifted me Tabasco sauce. Yes my brother; I know how serious dengue fever is; and specially for me because I'm immuno-compromised now. I am extra vigilant. Not only with mosquitos but also with the sun. I use sunscreen every time I go outside now. Take care our friends. Love you both.

Indeed, there are concerns what needs to be addressed and try to get used to in the Philippines. But, we dont get caught up with that too much because there is so much we can look forward to when living in the Philippines...

@william, that's goes for all of America! I lived on the Big Island for 3 years and endowed their racism and, of course, their HIGH TAXES. People working on in Honolulu on flying to work from Big Island, maybe Asian taxes. Government was all Asians!

It's inexpensive when you buy the local seafood, vegetables, and fruits. You spend more for vegetables and fruits that are not common here like broccoli and strawberries. Vegetables and fruits that don't do well in tropical climate. But, seafood will always be cheap here! Take care my friend.

.....dang, your teasing me at that Osyter restaurant 🤣 ...do they have an "ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET?" You can drop me off at 10AM ...and pick me up at 10PM ...does the owner, have a single older sister? ...can I get a job there with a discount on meals? Do they offer frequent customer specials? ...do the have a "HAPPY HOUR" specials? ...or better yet, senior meals??? I know now ...if yer ever are looking for me in Kaboli, I will either be fishing on a pier or ordering the ALL YOU CAN EAT plater at this restaurant.😝

I actually haven't seen "All you can eat buffet" in Kalibo; in Boracay there are plenty. The seafood buffet for about $20 at Henann Hotel in Boracay is legendary here! 😄 Haha...I know how much you love seafood my friend. You, out of all people I know, will love it here in Aklan province. Filipino seniors; over 60, all get a 20% discount on all their restaurant and fastfood meals in the Philippines. Unfortunately, they don't give expats the senior card. Take care my friend. Yes; I think they are better than clams. Oysters are not chewy at all. They are so tender; it's like eating butter.

Do you trust the health standards there enough to eat oysters raw (on the half shell)? Whichever way you answer, is that your response only for there in Aklan or would it be the same almost anywhere you might travel in the Phils?

When I was stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines in the late 80s; I actually got food poisoning from eating raw oysters. I was sick for days. I have never eaten raw oysters ever since. I really just started eating oysters again after I tried the baked oysters with cheese at New Washington Aklan. They are awesome! My recommendation is to stick with steamed or baked oysters. Not worth the risk of getting ill; specially on your vacation in the Philippines just for raw oysters.

@@Nauti-Buoy Yes; be careful of what you eat when you visit or first get to the Philippines. Stay away from street food. Stick with bottled water. Newcomers need to adjust to the food here; it takes time. My best friend from Hawaii is super careful when he visits me in Aklan.
