How did you secure the mounting plate to your brick? That's the part I watched this video too see and it was entirely skipped over.

How do did you mount the black plate to the wall?

Thanks for the Video! Do you need the Bridge to connect it with the App? Or is it possible to change the Color of the Lights without the Bridge? Thank you!
@AshLOVEsTECH Жыл бұрын
You can use it without, but by using the bridge, you enable automations to away-from-home control

I'm looking to get this exact light to replace my very old probably 70's porch light. Does this need to be earthed as my old light just has live & neutral.

Go for it Mark. It’s great. For the earth, I’m no electrician but I’m sure there’s a way around it. Tip. There are small holes I hadn’t noticed in the casing. I now have 2 spiders that found a great home inside. I’d block these up if I were to do it again. Maybe bluetac.

@@AshLOVEsTECH hi where are the holes located? I just got them and I noticed a bunch of insects got inside… did tape work?
@richardsweeney40204 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. So in terms of mounting the plate to the wall do you have to drill holes through the plastic to create holes? I’m a bit stumped by the lack of holes in the mounting bracket part of mine. Instructions are less than helpful. Cheers.
@AshLOVEsTECH4 жыл бұрын
I used a small flat blade screwdriver to push through the black plastic. It’s very thin for the screws to go through so not too difficult. The white metal part then easily fit to the black plastic mount on your wall.

That's what I was wondering. All of a sudden the black backing was on the wall and he added the front. Not sure if he had to drill into the brick at all.
@AshLOVEsTECH3 жыл бұрын
You do have to drill into the wall first. Then screw through the black plastic backing and into the wall.

@@AshLOVEsTECH does it come with a template and/or masonry bit to drill it into the concrete?

How is it for bugs? Does it get alot under the white shade? Is easy to remove to clean?
@AshLOVEsTECH2 ай бұрын
Good question. After a few years of ownership ow it is a bit of a spider trap. And where I have it mounted, not so easy to clean the inside.

Hi, so this doesn’t have any screws or mounting plate?
@AshLOVEsTECH3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The black plastic part on the wall is the mounting plate. Also comes with screws.

You say it is good to know that on the back it's got to go one way up - but is that important? I mean the light is like a square. Couldn't you place it any way you liked? is the light now working if you flip it 180?
@AshLOVEsTECH3 жыл бұрын
It does say in the instructions to have the fixing screw at the top. I installed mine too high and didn’t leave enough room to easily be able to tighten it.
@frederikjn3 жыл бұрын
@@AshLOVEsTECH well, I took down my old lights yesterday on the top of my fence in my driveway, and they were installed with the wires from the top so they came out in the top of the fence. So it was impossible to install the Hue the right way, since they have the wires in the bottom, and the light would exceed the fence, which both looked ridiculous and wasn't secured properly. So I flipped it 180 to secure it better, and it seems to work fine - hopefully :)

New to the Hue thing, do you need a hub to use it or just the app?
@AshLOVEsTECH3 жыл бұрын
The Econic wall light can be connected to your existing Hue bridge to enjoy all features e.g. away from home control and scheduling, and to create any ambiance. Otherwise it will work, but as a normal light.

Great video! Just a suggestion: You should do a smart home/Hue house tour showing your entire setup!

I just realized something; how on earth did you screw in the top screw of the casing, with such a tiny amount of space above it? Or did you skip that one?
@AshLOVEsTECH3 жыл бұрын
Well spotted! That was a pain. Had to lower everything in the end to make it accessible & still only with a very small screwdriver. 👍

Thank you! If it weren't for people like you getting this kind of information would be impossible, because neither the company makes them nor the retailers have the information you require to; first of all know if these lights are for you, second: how they are installed. Pretty basic information that you'd think would be readily available before purchasing right?

The search continues to find an example of this light IN THE DARK... Pretty hard to tell how bright it gets when the ambient light is brighter than what it produces. Sigh.
