Phil Robertson

Phil Robertson

Күн бұрын

Phil managed to become a star football player with one leg shorter than the other, but all it took to fix the problem was five bucks. Jase takes issue with the widespread Christian belief that we're still under the Ten Commandments. If you've wondered what it really means when he says there are no rules, this is the episode for you. The guys also discuss whether it's sinful to skip church meetings, go shady places, and hang around with shady people. And Phil shares what the Bible has to say about keeping things simple.

I was studying about God redeeming his ppl and bringing them out of slavery before he ever gave the law, the law wasn't a requirement of their redemption but his response to being a good father and loving and disciplining them and guiding them. I'm so so so very greatful for the holy spirit and I say thanks for the convictions on my heart. We should all give thanks for the loving and firm hand of our father. What a true blessing to be corrected because if he didn't correct me i wouldn't be his. I get to call him father because he called me daughter first. Not only that he leaves his peace

I have been listening regularly for about two months now and reading The Discipline of Grace. Your Podcast ties in so perfectly with this book. One more thing about not showing up to a meeting...there is a reason it is difficult to get our bums to church, because all hell would love if we never did. And that’s where the motivation is important. If I am in relationship with Christ, I am motivated to want to hear the Word and I practice self discipline. Let’s face it, there are some days where we cannot make it to church and thats not a sin.

I think that when Jase says "there are no rules" we need to hear him in the context of his understanding of all of God's Word, as he elaborated on in this video. In that larger context, I don't hear him saying that for the Christian "anything goes". (look how he lives his life). I think when some people hear "there are no rules", they're thinking maybe Jase wants to be like Antifa and be some kind of Anarchist. But as we heard him just now, where Jase references other scriptures such as in Romans 6, about "not sinning that grace may abound", and how we should be motivated by love not JUST rules-keeping (Roman's 6:17), what I hear Jase and the Robertson's saying is something like - "It takes MORE than obeying rules. It takes acting from a Christ-like, loving heart in faith in CHRIST's righteousness not OURS, to please God".

Jase we are under commandments but not under the laws they are 2 different things. In John 13:34 he said A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. I believe if he gives new commandment he didn't take away old commandments. He fulfilled the laws of sacrifice that's why we are not under the laws. Just my thoughts from my heart were JESUS lives. The term "Under the law," does not refer to disregarding the law, which defines sin. It is referring to believing you are granted salvation by following it perfectly, which is wrong because we are saved by grace. That does not mean that there are no rules to follow and the rules that there are to follow are those contained in the law. The Bible is very clear the law is not done away with UNTIL HEAVEN AND EARTH PASS AWAY. Until all prophecy be fulfilled, not until the death penalty is completed on the cross (Mathew 5:17-20) this verse is clear that the law is not done away with and, though you are saved by grace and will make it to Heaven, following the law is what determines your place in heaven. This verse says that those who teach men to disregard the law will be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven and those who teach men to follow the commandments of God, teaching that following the law is a fruit of our faith, but does not buy our way into heaven, shall be called GREAT in the kingdom of Heaven. The problem is what we have been indoctrinated to believe the phrase "Under the law," means the law is done away with, in contradiction of scripture. Just like Peter warned would happen, believers have twisted scripture to their own destruction and many are still following in those ways. The Protestant Reformation was far from being fully effective in removing the corruptions of Catholicism from the church.

Do you keep the Sabbath according to the Mosaic prescription?
@zachariah2402
@zachariah2402 3 жыл бұрын
@@russellcampbell3639 I keep the Biblical Sabbath. There are no instructions found in the Bible to start keeping Sabbath (derived from Shabbat which is the specific day name/ number for Saturday in Hebrew) on Sunday. Paul told certain groups to meet and listen to him preach on Sunday, but not only did Paul not have the authority to change the Commandments of God, he didn't try to. The instructions regarding the Sabbath have nothing to do with meeting, they have to do with resting. You can meet any day of the week. There is no instruction in the Bible to change the day of the Sabbath to the exact opposite of what is commanded and the Catholic Church had no authority to change the Commandments of God. So the short answer would have been yes I follow the Sabbath as best I can, within reason.

God’s law can be divided into 3 parts. 1) God’s moral law - These are the ten commandments and are forever binding. 2) God’s ceremonial law - These laws were given to the people of Israel and were meant to be temporary and have been fulfilled by Christ and therefore repealed under the New Testament. 3) God’s judicial law - This is the most difficult one. This is the state law given to the nation of Israel and it has expired except for the general equity. (WCF 19.4) Which means we need to understand the general principle behind the law and wisely apply it. We are not under the law today which means we are not saved by works. We are saved by grace through faith alone. But we are saved for works. (Eph 2:8-10) God’s law is the rule of life and directs us how to walk accordingly. The law also shows us our sin and our need for Jesus. (WCF 19.6)

"This is the first and great commandment." "And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." The first four commandments (having no other gods, making no images of the divine nature, honoring God’s name, and Sabbath-keeping...deals primarily with the love of God..."LOVE THE LORD THY GOD". The other six commandments (honoring parents and the prohibition of murder, adultery, theft, false witness, and covetousness...deals with your love of your neighbor..."LOVE THY NEIGHBOR".

The Law that was paid for was the full law of Sacrifice for Forgiveness ..In part, mainly covered in The Book of Leviticus . The rest of the Old law is covered and Still in place can be found in The New Testament, Romans 1.. Christ's Death, Paid in full for all sin. He WAS the Final Sacrifice made for redemption. However without Acceptance of him as your Savior you are still declared to be reprehensible to the law... ... If there's NO Sin In The World then no Law is required. Sin IS IN the world so Law is Still required.. Adam and Eve seen to that. The portion of law dealing with Sacrifice for Redemption/Forgiveness.. Ritual Cleansing and purification, Fasting, burnt offering, Clean/unclean and Sacrificial offerings made at The 1st and 2nd Temple in Jerusalem .. All have been resolved with Christ saying “It is finished;”

Take the unsaved and unrepentant to the Law to show them their need for a savior. Your in trouble ! and they say Why ??? The Law shows us our need before God and that without the blood sacrifice of Jesus you will parish. Take the repentant to Grace and show them that the burden was lifted through Jesus and His sacrifice. Without the law how do we know that we have a problem ??? And without the Cross we have no hope !

This is what I have learned: you have to learn to rightly divide the Word; the purpose for the 10 commandments was to show us that "no human" could keep the law and that we need a savior; Jesus fulfilled the law and was the only one who could do so.

I don't normally join groups, but years ago, I joined a Christian Chat group so I could surround myself with Christians, and this was towards the beginning where the Roman Church was yapping about how we all serve the same God, and you had that Interfaith moviement growing among the evangelicals, jumping on the Catholic bandwagon, and I kid you not, we didn't share God's Word because we couldn't come together in agreement concerning God's Word, instead we only argued over it. It's a real miracle when you meet someone halfway across the country or globe, whom you've never met, but the Holy Spirit interprets the Word so that we all have the CORRECT version of Christ within us, those that do not have the Holy Spirit are given to strong delusions and given false interpretations. It's like you say, I never memorized God's Word, it's just something that, as you spend time, the Holy Spirit brings it to the forefront of your minds when you need it. Same with me. I wasn't much good at memorizing anything, I don't even know my times tables, except 6x6, my dad helped me remember that. He decided to help me learn my time tables, and things musta not been going so well, till we got to 6x6, and he went nuclear, and to this day I never forgot 6x6, though I don't know anything else. I know the most important things that God has given me, and the humanities are not included.

Guys, let's make this easy: There are two unique things: salvation, and everything else. Salvation is by giving your life to Jesus Christ and accepting His salvation. Period. End of story. The way we "give our life to Christ" is "repent and be baptized," confessing our belief publicly. The 10 Commandments fall under "everything else". They express our values in relation to God, and in relation to other people. Adhering to the 10 as best we can has NOTHING to do with our salvation. In that way, we are not "under the 10 Commandments," we are not "under the law." It's either salvation, or it's everything else.

I love the Robertson’s they are wrong about the law. And if they’ll go back and read that scripture it does not say that the law was nailed to the cross, it says the list of charges against us was nailed to the cross. In other words, our sins.

I dont think it's a sin to go to a bar or shady places however I will pray for GODS direction if my path is to go into that shady place. I think because I was a bar dweller. I dont want to be in a bar now unless GOD moves on me to tell others of my testimony. I know pastors that had said no fermented wine was made by Jesus at the wedding, cause it would have been Christ fault for those ppl getting drunk. Or he didn't drink fermented wine with supper. Unreal Our children- We are to give direction in knowing and allowing who they go around. Are our children mature enough or focused on Christ so they can be a guiding light when around shady youth. Its prayer, and reading his word which will give us truth and guidance. Selah

Hebrews 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.6 Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity.
