This was one of those magically great songs of that era. Phoebe wrote the song, created and fingerpicked the guitar parts. And of course...her extraordinary, singular voice. Incredible imagery in the lyrics. This one had everything. I was 10 or 11 when it hit the airwaves, and evokes deep childhood nostalgia for me.

Phoebe Snow was one of those artists who could turn on the vocal pyrotechnics seemingly without efforts. When I was a teenager playing guitar and singing blues music I tried to pattern my phrasing after her, although really who can do that?
