I think the bar adds more difficulty than the five chances thing, because then you could get things like double penalties and even lose the case with one mistake at some points.

Apollo's bracelet doesn't detect lies by itself. Apollo's body temperature, which rises when Apollo sees someone that is lying, affects the bracelet's metal, and that shortens its shape, which makes Apollo feel it on his wrist
