Here's my advice: Play with a friend or help from a friend if you can. The wiki is available if stuff seems a little to complicated too. You could also use the guide's general tips at the beginning of the game. Throw away everything you know from Minecraft, and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. The idea of making logs into planks, gone. The idea of a hunger system, gone. The idea of only a few weapon types and crafting stations, gone. These games have their similarities but using one as the basis for the other doesn't work well at all. If left clicking something doesn't work, try right clicking + if something says equipable in your inventory, right click it in the inventory Try to place things that aren't obviously weapons, and bring materials to the guide to see what you can make with it. Make whatever appeals to you. Look through what the controls do Don't make a hardcore character, or a master mode world Hope this helps

I’d recommend doing classic just so they survive easily Also another thing that is far from minecraft is players and worlds, one player can go in many different worlds (except journey) and many different players can go in the same world (not all at once)

Those walls are background walls, you place things like wood to keep the monsters out. The walls exist to turn a building from a structure to a valid house for npcs like the guide who was helping you to move into

I had a similar experience when I first played Terraria like 10 years ago. I played Minecraft avidly, and then I picked up Terraria at a recommendation from a friend. But you know what? 10 years later, learning to play this game was such a good decision. I honestly love playing it more than I love playing Minecraft. It is SO well crafted, and the devs really care about their community, and it just keeps getting better with each update! (Each update that they say they're not gonna do lol) Please find a friend or two that have experience with this game, and play it with them! Once you start to get the hang of it you'll see that it has a lot to offer. But it is a VERY different experience than Minecraft. Don't expect Minecraft 2D!

terraria guide ig if your bothered to read: the walls are background walls that im pretty sure prevent mobs from spawning there i believe. you need to put actual blocks that you should have gotten from the trees to prevent mobs passing though. you can place torches and stuff on walls. to progress i would say make a 2 block wide hole straight down while placing platforms 6 blocks in between each other so you can go up and down. open chests and stuff you can only break chests if they are empty. the other person is called the guide and when you click crafting you can place a material in the empty box and it shows you things you can potentially craft from it. Travel the lands there are cool structures that you can get stuff from. Dont go inside a big place that has a grumpy old man by the front door until you do what he says (: ps: it was very painful to watch

Ok so those walls you place are background walls. To build a house you have to use wood and place it by clicking left mouse button. To craft you just need to open inventory and to craft with a workbench you do the same thing (also with other crafting stations like anvil or furnace) Hope this helps a bit.

Watching people play for the first time is a lot of fun, shame most people that stream their first time playing Terraria, play with friends. Even if they try not to, just the presence of other people ruin that first time experience where you explore and figure things out. A chat that backseats is almost as bad as another player handholding though, so it's really rare to see people play Terraria blind. So if you decide to play through Terraria I heavily recommend you play solo and try to avoid unsolicited backseating, because their is some convenient tips that you would struggle to find out during play, such as hotkeys for healing or smart placement.

You can use the actual wood plank block to serve as a wall. I know you haven't played this but the one of the first things you should do for Terraria is get cobwebs underground then have to make a loom out of a sawmill, then you can craft a bed
