the reviewer seems to think that every phone needs to be the same as the iphone or it's worse. what a biased comparison. don't make comparisons if you're personally biased towards either platform. you're supposed to show what they are, not comment on how it should be.

Nokia n8 has a very frustrating lag when you swipe from one screen to another, when you open an app. The lag is very noticeable 5-6years ago and ultimately leads to a big rise in apple fortune and decline in nokia fortune. The Nokia CEO said he did nothing wrong but actually he did. Poor user interface. Poor apps like couldn't catch up with Apple or Android. Nokia would be better off if they tied up with Android 6 years ago. At least they would still be a formidable brand right now.

Brilliant review. I like the use of certain words to describe the features. Having used both phones i would have to say N8 works better as phone,text,email,FB and twitter. It does tend to get stuck from time to time but it's a good phone. The camera is a mess to use as you have to input options every time the camera is used. iPhone works well for browsing and the google maps is excellent. I hated the sms and call features. It's not very easy to use phonebook and sms looks very kiddish.

How did Nokia lose direction and market success so badly?? I can really only put it down to the fact they persisted with Symbian waaayyyy too long and not really putting it behind them sooner... By the time they decided to give Maemo/MeeGo a go, it was already too late (referring to the Nokia N900). Apple, and subsequently Google, killed it for them...

The Nokia N8 feels great in your hand. It’s mostly made from anodized aluminum which comes in vibrant colors. The chrome accents around the camera lens, camera button, and volume controls get the thumbs up too. There are no wiggly parts and the buttons all feel solid. As expected, the hardware design is top-notch. The build quality is excellent, too. The screen is made of gorilla glass which is damage and scratch resistant. So, I'll prefer Nokia N8.

at some point, that man says that both phones has non-removable batteries. I dont know if iPhone 4 has a removable battery but for the nokia n8 you can easily change the battery by unscrewing the two screws at the bottom left and right side of the phone, lifting up the bottom and simply pull out the battery. The battery is a standard nokia battery which can be found in many other models, such as 5800XM (i think). You can find on youtube a few videos which tells you how to change the battery.

Good and fair review, except the steps for using the browser. It's not that many steps. I've have the luxury of using the Nokia N900 as well as the IPhone 4 and both has their pro and cons. All is what you as the consumer wants. I feel that the UI subject is way over played and dealing with the consumer way of using the phone. After you figure out each device no matter if it's Symbian, Android, or Apple, or even Maemo 5 all becomes ease of use. Choose wisely.

Last time I checked, the nokia can be overclocked quite a bit, and the standard cpu clock is on par with most 1ghz cpu's, and the latest firmware improves the overall speed quite a lot.

Why not compare the picture quality? Take 1 picture & print it out for comparising. Take a video & play it in HDMI on TV. I'm a photographer, that's why I use N8.

@georgealex17 "bigger camera" is a unfortunate choice of words. It has the "better camera" - the megapixels dont make the difference, but the focus technology, xenon flash, and carl zeiss lenses - they do along with software-side tools, anti shake .. and a lot of space on hotswappable card slots, allow for hours of HD quality video recording including zoom.

I got my Nokia N8 on Friday the 21st Oct. and updated to Symbian Anna and I am in love. :-) i-phone?! Are you kidding me?! My money will never be spent on a 'limited' Apple phone... Kudos to Apple for its high resolution screen but thats where has the upper hand... everything else, the N8 is either equal to the task or better. I don’t understand how people think the N8 is hard to use. You press a little button on the touch screen (SCREAM! Just like the iphone!!!111111!!!) and ‘stuff’ happens - and happens quickly. You can connect an N8 to your CRT TV (via the headphone socket) or HD TV (via the HDMI socket), then watch the BBC iPlayer on your big screen via the phone (or films, or read books, use it as a laptop, via Quick Office / a bluetooth mouse / keyboard, etc). WHat more you need ?

I have tried youtube video on iphone4 and it can only do 3rd party streaming but cannot browse youtube page & watch the video(flash video) at the same time. Why is that? Also, it can't download the video on youtube. why? N8 can use youtube downloader app to download. Not only that. Many others. the download file can be up to 1080p! Then play it over HDMI or use "play to" app to play it wifi over TV. iphone4 need to pay another $99 for a Apple TV hardware...

Ive owned N8 myself, and have several friends with iphones so know how it works too. N8 is not a bad phone. Great camera, great features, really nice sound through ear phones, good battery life etc. But symbian is not optimal. It is crashy, a little slow and its not good looking. OVI shop is not so active either. If you want a phone with good features and good hardware pick N8. If you want a quicker phone and more simple phone with beautiful designs get Iphone

hey you're lying in some stuff! the menu botton on the n8 is so easy to use, you just don't know how to hold it! also you don't need to go "all the way from side to side" with your finger to make the screen change! and you had your page saved on the iphone whereas on the n8 you simply decided not to just so you could say "6 steps"

The iPhone 4 is only 5MP Camera (720p) but the shots and videos are very good. The Nokia N8 is 12MP Camera (720p) but the shots and videos are almost the same with the Iphone 4. How about the iPhone 5? Is much better than the Nokia N8?

1. Yes, the phone is totally geared towards all those types of people (Sarcasm) 2. Does have quality. Every phone drops calls and looses signals. Some are worse than others. Depending on how you use the phone, the battery won't last long as it is with any phone. Home button is very responsive, you're just making things up. 3. iPhones have decent cameras (Yes, there are better ones) Shit ton of apps to choose from Simple and easy to use Fast Nice text when on a website Retina Display Etc.

Nokia N8 seens to me much better for everyday use. First it doesn't flyaway from your hands like iphone 4. Second its easy to share pictures with friends without paying MMS or extra apps to do it like with iOS4, Nokia N8 has a much better camera. And the best part of all is that the N8 doesn't need a stupid cable to synchronize. And it also reads flash. So for me its a much better phone.

I used Belle for a while, till i broke the SIM holder and got N8 repaired. To my surprise, the repairing guy changed OS to Anna. I found Anna much much better than Belle. 1( Camera focus faster, pictur quality better; 2) FM Radio clearer (no noise); 3) Apps seems smoother; 4) No hanging like Belle (also mentioned by cradleffilth92003 here). 5) Though less homescreens (3 vs 5/6), but more convenient. Actually you can re-arrange apps display... 6) a lot of nice small icon on top; 7) the compass!!!

@WorldClassPictures I have to disagree. I own a personal N8 and a work iPhone 4, so I carry both everywhere I go. The iPhone is simply a much better and more consistent user experience. The N8's camera eats the iPhone's camera for breakfast, but for everything else, the iPhone is a winner. On the N8, I especially hate the slow contacts app and the lack of a QWERTY keyboard in portrait mode. The iPhone is so much better for writing text messages (SMS)

You dont expect glitches like death grip in Nokia products. Someone said if you want a good camera, buy one. If you want a very smart phone, buy a laptop. Nokia has superior call and signal quality as well, not to mention the excellent camera
