Photographing an Ant and a Bee! | How to Edit a Macro Photograph on a Mobile Phone

On a recent photo walk I came across a colony of ants and a solitary bee, and managed to get some macro photos of these little subjects. In this video I share some footage from the day and how I edited my favorite shot of the honey bee. (Apparently I have some trouble saying the word “edited,” ha!)
I used my iPhone 6s Plus and a Moment macro lens for the close-up video and macro images. I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture of the bee.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! You will love it, it is similar to using a macro lens on a DSLR as in how you focus, but different in how close you have to get to the subject, but that adds to the fun of it, making 'getting the shot' that much more exciting! I hope you will enjoy it! :)

what size macro lens do you use for your iphone?

I actually use multiple different macro lenses for my phone now, the size and name brand does not matter too much, they all do the same thing, I find it best though to use the ones that are a little more expensive just because they use better quality glass. Currently, I use Moment Macro and Olloclip Macro, they are both good with pros and cons as I'm sure every brand has. There are other good ones out there, I just haven't had experience with them. :)

I am working on a video right now that talks a lot about my phone macro photography and will have many tips and perhaps a little advice on buying a lens, I'll see how it goes. Hope it will help.
