Thanks. I usually take a lot of time to process my photos (between 1 and 2 hours) because I'm obsessed with details and process my photos for large print. I have my complete workflow available in my detailed tutorials: www.mibreit-photo.com/tutorials.html But for such a photo it would nearly be sufficient to use a few curves layers to darken and work on contrast, if I would be only creating for the web. Maybe I'll do another quick tutorial on processing in the future. But generally those tutorials are usually lacking, because they cannot include all the detail work I usually do ;-)

Dear Michael, Thank you for your help. Have just ordered the bracket on Amazon UK (but don't see the umbrella) Regards, Allan.

Just search for "Blunt Metro" umbrella. Doesn't this link work anymore -> www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00F0PO2IG/?tag=httpwwwmibr03-21 . But you can use any umbrella. I just like the Blunt umbrellas for their built quality and the used material.

Hi Michael fabulous photo, could you show where you would meter for taking this sort of shot
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Chris, I always use manual exposure and the histogram to set my exposure. Goal is then to expose to the right. Since I'm usually on the tripod this is the best way for me to get properly exposed photos.

Hi Michael, I enjoyed this video and how you walked us through your choice of composition and settings. Are you working in ProPhoto color space or sRGB?
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 7 жыл бұрын
Alfredo Mora thanks. I do all processing in proPhoto and only in the end I convert depending on the target Medium.
@LanNinja11

Michael Breitung Thank you. I do the same. I have some color shift issues sometimes when exporting to the web using sRGB, primarily on dark blue skies. I was wondering if you have run into this issue on your blue hour images.
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 7 жыл бұрын
You could have a slight shift because some colors have to be adapted, because they don't exist in sRGB. You could play around with the conversion options, changing the intent. I usually use Relative Colorimetric, which gives quite good results. Also it kind of depends how saturated the colors are. Although my photos look quite colorful I still try to keep the sautration in check, so I guess you can avoid such shifts when going a little lighter with the saturation. PS: the hardest color shifts you will get if you ever have to convert to CMYK for offset printing. This is really no fun and you have to do lots of work to compensate for it ;-)

Michael, you are talking about long exposure noise reduction in the camera, but will it apply to the RAW file? If yes, why don't you use a standart LR noise reduction? The photo is great. A good balance in clouds with water and city lights, which usually can be on quite late
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 6 жыл бұрын
Hello Mikhail, The long exposure NR is against Hot Pixels. While LR also removes many of those, it often doesn't get rid of all, expecially when you are doing very long exposures. That's why I have it active when doing exposures. The dark-frame that is captured is directly used on the raw file to remove hot pixels in camera

Great video. Thanks for doing a city scape. Love that umbrella holder. Is that something of your own design or did you get it some where?

Hi Michael, I have amazon links to that umbrella holder in the description of the video. It's a neet little piece of equipment. But you need a center column on your tripod. cheers

Dear Michael could you please add a link to the umbrella you use in your video it's nice small and compact better than the usual umbrella's we see people use on the streets when it's raining
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl. It's all in the equipment link: mibreit-photo.com/equipment.html There I have links to Amazon.com, uk and de for the stuff I use, so you should find the umbrella at the bottom. I guess since I got this question a few times I should highlight my equipment links a bit better ;-) PS: The Blunt Metro XS umbrella is very nice umbrella, good design and good materials. But not the cheapest one either

@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 7 жыл бұрын
Servus. At present watching your review of your backpack. I trust your judgement.

Unfortunately F-Stop no longer produces the Satori :-( I have two of them though. The newer line is slightly different. Still good packs I think, but there have been alterations to the different pockets in and on the pack. Some of those I don't like. One big dissadvantage of the newer F-Stop packs is that they removed the mesh pockets on the outside, in my opinion one of the worst decisions they could have made. Instead they now have huge side pockets but they are not as good, if you just want to pack a large bottle of water or similar stuff. So you should be aware of this. On the other hand I think they improved the material, making the pack even more water proof. And they also improved the comfort when wearing it. But I would have liked if they had kept more of the features of the original Satori.

Oh dear! What a shame. When you have perfection they should just leave it alone. Thank you for letting know Michael...
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 7 жыл бұрын
Maybe there will be another update to the line of packs in the future which reintroduces some of the old pockets. But as I said, they are still good backpacks. But I wouldn't trade my Satori against one of the new packs. It's just my favourit pack
