Could you please explain this concept 'she is gone, you are gone ' how can we use verb's 3rd form with linking verb is, what's that means what is this concept. It would be nice if you illustrate this.
@highlevellistening5 ай бұрын
Interesting question: In this sentence, "gone" functions as an adjective, not a verb. It describes the state of "she" and "you" - they are no longer present. It's like these other sentences: She is exhausted. (Exhausted is the past participle describing her state) The vase is broken. (Broken describes the state of the vase) The meeting is canceled. (Canceled describes the state of the meeting) So overall it's easier to think of "gone" as an adjective.

Great examples and well done using the phrasal verbs from this video!
While working at the office, my colleagues always use “literally” I want to know what the meaning is?
@highlevellistening5 ай бұрын
Great question! "Literally" has a few meanings and usages: - Traditional Meaning: In its original, strict sense, "literally" means exactly as stated, with no exaggeration or metaphor involved. Example: "The old car literally exploded into a ball of flames." (The car actually blew up.) - Modern Colloquial Usage: In everyday speech, "literally" is often used as an intensifier to strongly emphasize a statement, even if the statement isn't meant to be taken in the strictly factual sense. Example: "I was literally starving to death waiting for lunch." (The person was very hungry, but not actually at risk of dying.) Your colleagues are likely using "literally" in the modern, colloquial way. - Emphasis: It adds a dramatic or humorous punch to a statement. - Habit: For many, it's an unconscious filler word, similar to "like" or "you know". Hope that helps!

Madam/ Sir, Please make sure that the advertisement comes in your videos are all in English, then only we'll listen ad also, that will benefit both of us, because we are here to learn English, if ad comes in other languages we tend to skip that. We are listening English in ad comes in between your videos. This is my small suggestion only. In India, we have many languages, we couldn't understand the languages of our own country, in which ad comes 😂😮
@highlevellistening5 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks so much for joining us! We have zero control at all about the ads that play sadly! But you might be able to change the language in the settings on your own KZbin profile: Click your profile picture . Click Language or Location. Click the language or location that you'd like to use. Hope that helps!
