im a borosilicate glass artist..and I have been 3d printing with resin since about 2015. I never tried casting before...but recently started reading up on it and decided to give it a try. I already have a torch suitable to melt the metals and my kiln is capable of burnout and I have good ventilation. I picked up a bottle of 3d materials supercast resin off amazon..new company that doesnt seem to have many reviews. Dont have much to compare it to..but so far I like it. I just cast 3 rings that I modeled with patterns I use in my glass work..they came out so good, all the detail is there. Only problem I had is I need to dial in the resin more, it was overexposed. Printing again now at 2.8s a layer..we will see how it goes. I did cast the overexposed prints out of brass and they came out great. Thanks to your channel for tips on how to properly burnout resin and do a pour.,,was not expecting such awesome results so early on (I did cast a couple other resin items that I didnt burnout long enough and had some defects due to ash...but the rings came out awesome!)

So does this not require a burnout of the molds before casting?

03:32 R&R Plasticast 12hr burnout

Hi, can you describe in detail the burning process for this polymer resin, I will be very grateful for your answer.

We use the same guidelines for all resins and waxes when casting. It will change depending on flask size and metal type. The guidelines can be seen in this video:kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJXGnIyKi5elgMk

When you cast bronze, with a flask at say 1100F, do those red silicone gaskets stand any chance for at least a handful of castings?
@alexhall3587 Жыл бұрын
You’d be surprised at how long they work. The one I’m on right now has been used five or six times at 900F (sterling silver and tin bronze cast at that temp), and it is only slightly deteriorated on its surface.

Is there any difference between flask button up vs down during the burnout cycle?

Can i use it on elegoo 3d printers?

Although Phrozen primarily lists their own printers in their support material you can use their resin on a variety of units including Elegoo units.

I don't understand how the air is sucked in or the plaster cast has no holes in the lower part which is attached to the vacuum pump
@ClearMindJewellery7 ай бұрын
The investment plaster is naturally porous. The perforated flask allow the vacuum direct contact to pull through the investment.

Have you ever tried using WhipMix FastFire 15, which is a Dental investment that has a very fast burnout cycle? I am looking for an investment with a fast burnout cycle so I can vacuum-cast Zamak for more of a production cycle using small burnout ovens... Zamak casts around 830*F so it's low temp.
@ClearMindJewellery Жыл бұрын
We have not had any experience with WhipMix. We are working on a 6hr rapid burnout that is compatible with R&R Plasticast, should be ready in a month or so.

What kind of investment powder are you using in general? I have bought Optima Prestige but not sure if the powder really matters.

Thank you for the video by the way. I have bought Senertek and now considering buying this one too!

Would definitely check out the thread in the group Discord around this very topic from earlier this morning. We are using R&R Plasticast, but Optima Prestige and R&R Plasticast are like Coke and Pepsi

Prestige optima is the absolute best investment for castable resins, much better than plasticast

Are there any big price differences between labels of the same solution?
@ClearMindJewellery Жыл бұрын
Generally in a whitelabel situation its the same formula under a different name. The only reason we tried this one again knowing it was whitelabeled is because the last time we used it was 3 or 4+ yrs ago. However there are different formats of partnership from whitelabeling, that may or may not result in a variation in formula.

Blue Cast X one vs Power Resins?

Hey, guys, this comment really isn't for this video but I couldn't figure out how to contact you guys to ask the question. With all of your experience now, using different machines, which 3D printer would you recommend for a novice jewelry maker just learning 3D printing? I'd say my budget would be 1500 max. Thank you in advance.

Hey man, our instagram and website are linked in the KZbin about section which will give you avenues to contact us directly. Right now we are into the Phrozen Sonic Mini 8Ks as the detail is crisp, the unit is no longer locked to Chitu do I can use Lychee directly with it, and it’s cheaper. Depending on size of prints the Peopoly Forge is also pretty great for our print in place tree technique (but that a little further away in your journey likely).

WHat does white labelling mean here?
@ClearMindJewellery Жыл бұрын
Whitelabeling means its the same resin, with different branding. The only reason we tried this one again knowing it was whitelabeled is because the last time we used it was 3 or 4+ yrs ago. However there are different formats of partnership, other then whitelabeling, that may or may not result in a variation in formula.
