When I was about 8 or 9, and had just learned the windows solitaire, I taught it to my grandma with real cards. (she never got a computer). In the later years, I taught her spider, threepeaks and pyramid too. She would play the game every night, not going to bed until she had won, and when I was here we would do solitaire contests (who won faster, although we helped each other a fair bit). She had found a way to distribute the cards so as to raise her winning chances to 50%.

Regarding the card backs, each of these has a proper name in the source files. In order of appearance, they are named RBHATCH (used in the physical deck), BGHATCH, CFISH, BFISH, BKVINE, BLVINE, BROBOT, ROSE, SHELL, KRAZKSTL, SANFLIPE, and SLIME. Variants you won't find if you simply look in CARDS.DLL include a version of BFISH with dark gray instead of black, BLVINE without any black, the robot on a white background, the fish on a yellow background, the hand with the hidden ace permanently visible, and two backs with "286" and "386" hatched together.
