I am not giving up. I had a stroke in 2022 and I am still trying to. Walk. I had a real bad stroke so I am making it and taking it one day at a time using my walker (manual) and my rolling walker. I think I need to consider getting a cane. What are your thoughts?

@@cherronwilliams6288 Thank you for commenting. Well, I am 65 years old, and never really drank alcohol or smoked. So I was pretty pissed at getting an " old" man's disease at 59. I exercise like an olympian, and hardly stop, my wife gives me a hard time when she watches me. The X trainer, my favourite gym toy, at least an hour a day. I do eat well, SE Asia, where we live, has great fresh food. The big change, I have discovered, is green tea. Very cheap out here. I have the water boil kettle thing on all day. I also would recommend KZbin, there are some great videos. I drove a truck, see photo, for a long time, It's the worst job in the world if you want to stay healthy. I just recalled, 2 KZbinrs, " Brad and Bob" do a great show on YT. Again, thanks for commenting.

To those people getting mad about the gait belt situation: use your common sense!.Not all patients require a damn belt..Ofcourse if your patient is a fall risk, then use you clinical judgement and use one!.And some areas (US), consider it as a restraint..In this video, the therapist clearly knows her patient well and understands the risks..

So she was really getting Joe to weight-bear through the right leg and increase clearance when he swings the right leg(mini-hurdles). When Joe was going up the steps she cued him to step up with the right leg first as an exercise activity to increase weight-bearing and stability on right leg. Very effective activity. Generally though you want to step up with the strong leg first when going up stairs and step down with the weak leg first when going down stairs, as it is much safer. This is excellent Physical Therapy, just wanted to mention that to folks for their safety. Only practice these activities with your PT or once you get further along in your rehab with a family member or friend. Best wishes to all you stroke warriors who are fighting the good fight.

Daddy had a stroke 5 years ago. He slept in the hospital for 10 days. Then he was put in rehab. When he was only 55 years old, he was put in an old people's home and all the residents there were so much older than him. 55 years old is pretty young. Daddy is almost 60 years old now. Mommy has to work hard every day to take care of Daddy. Sometimes me and my 6 little brothers help her with taking care of him. When Daddy had a stroke, me and everybody in my big family and our friends prayed for him to get better. And now he can walk, but he has to use a cane and a wheelchair and he can talk, but his favorite word is change. And Mommy always calls him dude. Daddy needs lots of therapy like speech therapy and physical therapy. Sometimes, the boys take him out for walks when it's nice out. And sometimes, Daddy's friends from his work come to the house. Like when I told my little brothers to take Daddy for a walk outside, they were sleeping. All of them were sleeping.
