All fats are not bad. Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids are essential. Avocados and olive oil are full of healthy fats. Your heart is in the right place, but a more balanced approach will certainly be more helpful.

This video is very missleading. The woman is trying to convert You to vege lifestyle which is not healty at all in the long run. Half of her "knowledge" based on unknown studies is opposite to actual knowledge. Cardiologist Dr. Pradip Jamnadas who is very renowned in medical and scietific world because of his impact on healthy life style and diet through studies and research as a medical doctor with over 30 yesrs of practice says different things about gut bacteria and what is good/bad for it. I' sorry, I don't believe vegan activists who cannot provide any concrete studies/evidences. To me, this video is just a commercial.

I am a doctor but this doctor didn’t do enough research for sure. People who eat kimchi in Asia don’t get stomach cancer from kimchi. It’s a known fact that people in those countries eat lots of smoked fish and cancer is caused by nitrates. Just remember, everything is good in reasonable amount and what your system can handle. Except for fast food, processed foods and sugars. Everyone is different so vegan diet might work perfectly fine for some but will not be the best diet for most

Higher rates of stomach cancer in Korea are also potentially linked to the high stress and high alcohol consumption among other factors. Correlation is not causation in regards to kimchi consumption for higher rates of cancer.

Not complete information. For some of my clients, veg irritate them. I doubt very much that their gut biome is healthy when they have inflammation and IBS. For them, carnivore with high natural fat calms their inflammation and autoimmune disease. They cannot eat broccoli. So, for others, we need to remove wheat and dairy to get their inflammation/gut to calm. Point is, there is not one solution for all people. Leaky gut is not caused by fat, but more likely a sensitivity to wheat or another food.

Her recommendations of broccoli and beans I would have to disagree with if you have IBS and need fiber. This would aggravate the symptoms of many IBS people, so be careful about the advice there. I would say something like seaweed, acacia are examples of more IBS friendly fibers and certain vegetables like bok choy, kale, swiss chard. Avoid certain foods or vegetables if you suffer from sinuses or allergies along with your IBS (see low histamine diets).

Feed the bad ones. And then you get dysbiosis/SIBO. That happens when the bad bacteria overpower the good and it sucks. I had to take an antibiotic to kill it and have to be careful to eat only clean. You also get leaky gut and high inflammation with more bad gut bacteria. I’m eating AIP now to recover my gut.

Sugar and processed foods should have been on the list ..there is nothing wrong with fat from a steak that came from a grass fed cow ..it's loaded in omega 3s ..low carb decreases my inflammation..there is obviously a healthy version and dirty version of low carb and she doesn't once talk about that aspect of it ..just pushing her narrative ..I can't eat lectins or grains . Well you missed a brilliant video. She listed the fatty foods that wreck the gut and they were all unhealthy fats. You should have listened to the whole thing. Nowhere did she say to beware healthy fats (although, as I'm sure you're aware, these too need to be limited. The optimum diet for good health is high fibre, low fat.

How does one eat enough calories without fats? That's a LOT of fruit and beans to get 2000 calories without fat. My GI is already bad and hard to handle even some carbs and fiber.

What about the metals in atmosphere and nano fungicides agriculture fertilizer pesticides in soil Etc...plus GMO foreign to gut...colon coating. Our gut doesn't know what to do with it....where does liver put it? God does not make junk.... there's no quick fix to good health...time effort persistent and patience.

I think when people suddenly change their diet and start eating different foods, they often shock the gut and get a problem like gas or even diarrhea, even constipation or some other issue. So then they decide that certain foods aren't good and they give up. Thats not the way to go about a change in diet. For example, someone watching this video might go buy and eat like 3 or 4 bananas and a head of broccoli and then get an upset stomach or even eat some kimchi and then have the squirts for a few hours. So then they don't eat those foods ever again.

Can you guys PLEASE differentiate between animal fat and plant fat. It gets very confusing. She said high fat foods should be avoided because its harmful.. Okay great but does this include high fat plant foods like nut butters or avocados? Should we limit these foods or can we eat these foods abundantly? It is okay to eat a high fat diet (over 20% of calories) if the fats are coming from whole (or minimally processed) plants? If not, could you explain why and with sources? Thanks!

Bananas are very high glycemic index. Can cause you to gain weight. Beans are very hard to digest.

Green bananas are much lower on the glycemic index. Beans require you to build some beneficial bacteria so you can digest the resistant starch. I don’t think her argument was that you can’t live off of a high fat diet. I think it was that a high fat diet is associated with higher levels of “bad” gut bacteria compared to a plant based diet

They also have a short lifespan and they have arterial disease. This is from studies done on Eskimos who eat a traditional high fat diet. Now many eat a junk food diet so aren't any better off than their ancestors.

It's modern agriculture that causes autoimmune diseases... if the fruits and vegetables you eat are grown with these practices, you are not improving your health, if the animals you consume are not raised with these practices, you will improve your health, everything is more related to how the food was produced than, what kind of food... regenerative agriculture is a step in the right direction, but our foods still lack nutrient density. This video paints with a broad stroke, while ignoring the chemicals and bad agriculture practices that destroy our gut microorganisms....

Another example of why the nutrition question is impossible to sort out. This just sounds like a vegan bias. Not that I don’t think you can eat vegan and be healthy, but there are only three things to eat; carbs, fat, protein. So are they saying eat more carbs?

Interesting info, but the Harvard study made a massive mistake. They threw fried food, which everybody knows to be super inflammatory, together with healthy fats like butter. Good quality butter/ghee will have plenty of butyrate which is known to be excellent for colon health. I am not saying that you should go carnivore, but if we treated the plant foods the same way the animal foods were treated, then they would have included GMO and sprayed soy and corn. Completely unnatural and unhealthy, just like the fried foods with their rancid oils. Regardless, mostly plant diet + some good quality animal products seem good.

Seriously questioning Ms. Jardine's advocating that we eat unripe fruit, considering unripe fruit generally causes indigestion for obvious reasons. Surely we can eat ripe bananas and eat the other healthy things she mentions for needed fibers? Also, as other commenters have stated, the lack of clarification concerning fats, as though all fats are identical, is a problem. Enjoy these interviews, but I would love if Ms. Jardine returned to clear up some of the confusion left behind from this interview. Thanks for posting.

tamcon72 When I have eaten bananas more on the green than yellow side, it tastes just fine. I don’t know if indigestion and fruits go hand in hand - in my case, there is no such reaction. We are all different, though. Things that seem healthy and work well for some cause others problems.

@Allister Santoro Oh, I agree that the gut needs to adjust to fiber over a period of time. Most people can't just start eating high fiber and feel no strange effects in the stomach or intestine. My point was that eating under ripe fruits usually causes problems because under ripe fruits aren't ready to eat.

It's what Johzuke says. What it is is called Digestive Resistant Starch. It doesn't get digested in the small intestine but passes into the Large Intestine where the good bacteria feed on it.

Then i go for greens. beans an legumes especially lentils an more plant based an fruits ..grains an fibre... then im sick with runny stools. cramps an gas like crazy. I think you have to change your diet slowly to give your gut bacteria a chance to adapt. It’s used to your previous diet so a drastic change might cause distress.

First you may need to increase your microbiota diversity. Eat more fermented foods before increasing your fiber. Start looking into videos that talk about bacteria and the microbiome.

. Start with flaxseed (it is a wonder) and do the opposite, healthy fats (not processed foods) do very well with gut bacteria. Omega 3 rich foods and prebiotics actually matter way more than probiotics. Broccoli is not at the top of the list. Start with fermented foods like Saurkraut or even Yogurt (not the ones with sugar) and yes pick up the full cream one. More green leafy vegetales and fruits in moderation, berries are best. Nuts and seeds are wonderful as well. Depends on which ones and how you prepare them. Throw away that pyramid that tells you to eat a whole bunch of grains please and do like the French and start with vegetables, then fats/protein then carbs and you will have a happy healthy gut (yeah it is not that simple thigh) and stop drinking that dead water, use mineral rich water and throw away that table salt. his is advice on gut health leaves one discombobulated. Thank God there are doctors. Folks please do your research properly before locking following this advice.
