I love the Eppelsteins but this is a commercial for processed foods. First time I’ve ever turned off one of Chuck’s podcasts. As another commenter mentioned, would love an update on how the firemen are doing.

Gotta let Rip know I ordered the bundle and rec’d my Whole Foods BOGO. Guess what? Whole Foods, Downtown Indy customer service not only could not point me to Plant Strong items, they (4 employees) phoned a friend and turned my wallet away. Since I invested 30 min, paid parking, and enjoyed the 90 degree day, I found another employee, who also said WF didn’t carry the PS brand, and asked where she would look for shelf stable non dairy and chili. Wonder of wonders! There was PS, nicely product placed. Unlike Lowe’s, I guess WF doesn’t have an app for employees to type in the name and discover item location. Bonus, in our quality time, I told the final employee about the pizza crusts and she needs pizza crusts for her pantry.

Ewe the Lion sounds awful!! Every Dr. is pushing the paleo keto carnivore diet and statins. I see so many eating no carb diets mainly meat. They are able to lower their A1C to under 5 -can you explain why the high fat is lowering the A1C? The dr was also claiming the heart is protected by eating healthy oils. I like your show so much. Thank You 😊
@me-lg1yw
@me-lg1yw 4 ай бұрын
The A1C is probably low because they are not eating any starches.
@11235Aodh
@11235Aodh 4 ай бұрын
I don't think it's really lowering their A1C. When you measure blood glucose after a meal, glucose causes a raise in the 3-5 hours after the meal, but fat and protein also raise the blood but much much later in the window of 5-9 hours after the meal (when no one is measuring anymore). Fat makes muscle and liver cells insulin resistant. Eating any carbs while cells are insulin resistant will give a blood sugar spike (which turns them off from glucose even more ignoring the fact that it's the fat that's causing the problem). Also, any fat makes the blood thicker and decreases oxygen transport, this is also true for the "good fats" which is a marketing ploy. The good fats you're looking for are in leafy greens and other plant foods (protected against oxidation as PUFA's (the good fats) are highly unstable and go rancid quickly due to sunlight, heat or age.

This was just a commercial for Plant Strong and the comical part was you talk about avoiding food that is boxed and processed, then described foods boxed and processed (just add water and eat a box of ingredients). Sounds like fast food to me.

I am so very fun of this channel and I hope its not used to sell. Not these products, not even the poweder of Dr B...What makes this podcast unique is that it is non profit. If sells gets in it, it losses its neutrality - science based... Moreover, I hope this is not passing the message of basing your diet on ultraprocessed foods; these are. Just a bit more celan yet not whole foods, in its natural form...I think it is the first time I have a negative comment, but its meant much constructive...

A Gorilla has a total cholesterol level of about 245 mg/dL by eating an almost all raw vegetarian diet but they still die at around age 35 from a type of heart disease even though they eat no fast food, fried food, frosted flakes cereal, prime rib, cheesecake, ice cream, butter or sodas. If we could get them to change their diet would they live longer with less heart disease? A butterfly is a herbivore and lives for 2 weeks, if we could could change their diet would they live longer?

oh yeah! This manly vegan episode was entirely needed. What's manlier than someone starting a business and caring for lives around them? I can't think of any. Rip is the epitome of vegan manliness, along with chuck, Dr. Barnard, Robert Cheeke, etc. - it's great to show that men's health matters too - and that being vegan is masculine strength all by itself - you got to be strong to be vegan! PCRM's at it again with more important of topics! They're on fire - wow if that's not masculinity for PCRM as well - just being there for everyone for their livelihood - what is? Double whammy today - how cool was that?
@extropiantranshuman

I normally don't get most of the foods plantstrong puts out - because of the alliums in it that I'm sensitive to, but the lack of SOS is a huge plus - not to mention the new plant milks that froth and aren't even with added sugar nor saying 'natural flavors' just means so much. I align with a brand that literally has nothing to hide and all to show to make the best decisions with one's health!! If that's not being manly - simply by being upfront and a 'stand up' person - what is??? That's true strength to not be weak and hide, but bring forth everything that can be done to help another - that's peak comraderie right there if I've ever seen it! I like date sugar as an idea - it's the most eco and least unethical option you can find - because I've even picked dates off trees too in my city - they take very little water to grow to produce so much and take up pretty little space that they are able to put them in shopping centers.

There is a difference between processed food and ultra-processed food. The Plantstrong chili, stew, cereals, etc do come in a package but they are not ultra-processed, they are made with clean, whole ingredients. Plantstrong items like the plant milk, cornbread mix, pancake mix and pizza crusts are processed (because the ingredients are not in their whole form) but the ingredients are all plant foods you would find in your own kitchen...no additives, fillers, gums or emulsifiers, flavorings or artificial colors or preservatives.
