Just last weekend, vegan ultra runner Catra Corbett took 2nd place female and 3rd place overall in the 186 mile Beyond Limits Ultra race in Southern California last weekend. She is 58 years old and has been vegan for 15 years.

Another example showing that age is mostly not really a factor when you eat a proper healthy diet. I hear so many people saying and complaining how after age 30 their body no longer functions as good as it used to, all the while i'm 30 and functioning like a teenager on a WFPB diet. Then you have others running marathons at near 60. When you look at people who complain, , their diets are atrocious - predominantly fast foods, and even regular meat/dairy/egg based diets, they all have pain and some other issues at age 30, 40 and 50, some even with disabilities. It seems to be so ingrained into our society that when you hit 30,40,50...your health will go downhill naturally. Yet it's clearly false.

A friend dropped his 100 km running time by 1.5 hrs by going WFPB without extra training. Seeing this, encouraged me to go WFPB as well.

After seeing “running for good” about Fiona her story it give me the inspiration to do a short triathlon with the extra energy I had going vegan 1 year before, 4 years later finished a Ironman being 45 year old, (never doing something endurance before) no injuries during training and always the tank full of energy…. Met Fiona one time on a meet and greet on a veggie fest what a woman and inspiration.

I took on triathlon because of all the energy I had when going vegan. My students always say I have too much energy. They can't believe it's the food😁🤷‍♀️💪💪

I would like to add a bit about a book called Born to run published in 2009 it talks about the Tarahumara Indians from Mexico. They run 430 miles in two days on a diet of only corn, beans, and squash.

My mother died from polycythemia about 3 years after being diagnosed following a stroke and a heart attack. She did not really use her meds and died from respiratory failure, high blood pressure etc etc. Never changed her diet, no exercise, docs never talked about changing diet or lifestyle, so she died. She did drive thru Dairy Queen to get her Mama Burger, onion rings and shake a day. before she passed.

Could please ask Dr Leon, what if an athlete has oat and wheat allergies, what complex carbohydrate would be an equivalent substitute?

I wonder whether the type of protein is really important. Whether animal or plant sourced, protein is broken down into polypeptides (short chains of linked amino acids) in the stomach and further into individual amino acids in the small intestine. Are there animal polypeptides that differ sufficiently from those derived from plants to cause ill health, or could the different microbiome composition that results from a change in dietary patterns be responsible? - My own health and energy levels have improved since I went whole food plant based.

Look up Dr Brooke Goldner MD all over the internet for healing from Hasimoto’s disease and ALL other diseases. She is a doctor who accidently cured her Lupus when she changed her diet. Others tried her diet and healed their illnesses. Worth looking into. All the info is free. Her books are Goodbyelupus and goodbye autoimmune disease. Won’t be sorry you did. Best wishes!

What did you add to the oats? Did you put cow's milk or water? Add banana, apple, etc. instead of sugar. If you put on weight, eat less calorie-dense foods - calories still matter

I eat steel cut oats daily. Soak over a cup overnight before cooking in the morning with water then add soy milk and frozen berries. Last thing it does is make me put on weight or give me acne.
