Every video explains this Joules per Coulomb with theoretical charges being moved about in a space. What I would like to see is how we came up with the Volt in a lab setting. Nowadays we have calibration labs who calibrate electronic instruments, where is the standard for the Volt obtained by its dependence on Joules and Coulombs?

Can it be said that if the positive test charge were up against the negative charge it would be neutralized and therefore at zero potential?

Yes but why is the voltage same between every 2 points on the wire when in your examples it will be different depending on the relative distance of the points from the battery poles. I still don't get it. It's clear with the gravity analogy - it's just the height difference. But with electricity, the distance does not play a role (it's same across the wire no matter how far from the battery] yet it somehow does depend on distance...

The current is the same the voltage is not.

After 6:05 you say: "Of course the potential is zero at infinity". OF COURSE??? I don't think so. You have to do work on a testparticle to get it to infinity. So the potential energy and the potential is maximized there! So you should have said: "Of course the potential is at a maximum at infinity". In my opinion it's just a convention to set the maximum at zero, because we can't measure absolute potential energies.
