Very interesting. I see so many different ways of positive test in both SLR and Slump and now I understand a bit more how to differentiate them. I am also interested to read articles on this topic! Thank you guys!

extending the leg with the hip already flexed = Lasègue's test (or slr) slr with dorsiflex = Bragards test slr with dorsiflex and cervical flex = Neri's test (or Neri's sign) Perhaps it'll be easier to use the terms when explaining the movement on the whiteboard. Aside from that -awesome channel and keep up the great work!

Yes, we mentioned that in the original video for the SLR. In this case (according to how Sizer et al. use the SLR to differentiate) the crucial point is more the initiation with dorsiflexion or neck flexion. Strictly speaking, this is different from the Bragard and Neri as they are used to confirm the finding of neurological symptoms by moving out of the provocating SLR position and using DF and neck fl. to confirm the diagnosis. Thanks Cedric, appreciate it and we definitely will!

+Pierre-Louis Denaro yes, differentiation is not easy and requires quite some anatomy knowledge as well. We'll keep in touch via Facebook Pierre!

Got a bit confused as we weren't explicitly taught "primary" & "secondary" disc related disorders but maybe that's just a matter of definition. Does primary here mean acute compression as in HNP but without an inflammatory process that has caused adhesions? then why can nerve root compression not also be primary? And does secondary mean due to degenerative changes in line with spondylosis (DDD, osteophytes etc) as well as later complications of a herniated disc? I tried to read the full-text but couldn't get access to the paper through my uni, sorry.

You’re right 👍🏼 and remember that this is an invalidated theory

@@Physiotutors i have the same question. but it's not clear in your answer what is the diffeence between nerve root compression snyndrome and primary disc related disorder..
