Mr. Warren knows how to address everyones’ needs from the beginner to the advanced level. I have been YouTubing for the past 5 years now and I have never seen any piano tutorial channel with a well organized tutorial system. He has covered every single topic from intervals, scales, church modes, passing chords, the list can keep going on till Wednesday of this week. Thanks to this guy I know that I am an intermediate pianist. In my humble opinion I would like to recommend this channel for every gospel pianist out there, if you really want to improve. Kudos Sir

Thank you, your videos are extremely helpful. Sometimes I forget the importance of the basics. Ever since I followed your advice and making sure I know the basic progression and melody in every key I have no problem reharming. This method really helps you to internalize the song you're learning. Having no problems with improvising since doing the "Bare bones" just helps you to map out the entire song in your head

Once you understand that building 2-5-1 (with the 1 being the destination chord of your progression), walking the bass up and down in between, you get very close to gospel. Ply the melody with your right hand top fingers, distribute your inversions between thumbs, 2nd and middle fingers, there you go: three- voice arrangement. A whole orchestra under your hands. Don’t forget guys: the piano is THE instrument of western music composition. Because you have the whole range of recognizable pitches right there. Next thing after piano is guitar, though you only get 6 voices maximum with it. Wanna make it really gospel? Play organ(Hammond ftw). Wanna go rnb? Go e-piano. Keys are king

So would rootless voicings be your recommendation for any extended chord? Also, I saw that you used dominant chords on more the the 5. Can it be any of the major chords? And does your ear tell you that it can be too much?
@PianoLessonwithWarren3 жыл бұрын
1. Rootless voicing is only recommended when you have a bass player. 2. When a dominant seventh chord is used outside the 5, that is called a secondary dominant, I have tutorials on this. 3. Too much is all about preference and your tolerance for dissonance.
