Hi can you do many rivers to cross-Jimmy Cliff?
@johnedwardpiano Жыл бұрын
Its easier for me to play this with inversions. BDG ADF# ACE GCE or CEG By the way, I learned all about inversions from you, Nate. Another wonderful tutorial
@PianowithNate Жыл бұрын
Awesome! I agree honestly...I made the decision to make this video geared towards total beginners who might not know about inversions yet. It is a funny thing...inversions are more "advanced" because you need to *understand* them, and it takes some experience to easily *see* them, but in many cases it does actually make a piano part easier to use them, mechanically speaking

Nice one Nate. Now I have to add it to my list, lol! 😊 I would like to request "You're So Vain" - Carly Simon. There are not many tutorials for it, and certainly not any real good ones. I know your list is long, but it's a good one!

@@PianowithNate Yay! I know you could break it down the way you do so brilliantly. When I learn a song that way, I can then add the techniques you teach to make it "fancy", especially when it's a song I know so well. I'll will patiently ( 🤔) be waiting for this one! ❤

Hi Nate, thank you for the video tutorial, really helpful! I think there might be a problem with your automation. I've tried with two different email addresses but haven't been able to get my hands on the chord/lyrics chart. I'd love to get it!

So sorry about that, there is indeed a problem with my system and I am working on getting it resolved. Please email me at hello@echocitymusiclab.com (mention what song you need) and I’ll send it to you directly as an email attachment.

Where did you get the C from? It's only 3 chords
@PianowithNate8 ай бұрын
It alternates between Am and C at the end of lines. Am and C are very related chords and sound similar...you may have learned (and gotten used to) a simplified version at some point!
@Andrew-rz7qt8 ай бұрын
@@PianowithNate I have looked into it some more after this reply and we are both wrong, these aren't even the right chords for the song.
@PianowithNate8 ай бұрын
What did you find?
@Andrew-rz7qt8 ай бұрын
@@PianowithNate the one that you're teaching is how Guns n Roses play it, so technically you are correct but Bob Dylan plays it as A E(/G#) B, C#m B A. I have indeed been playing it wrong. I'm going to try the Bob Dylan why tonight but if all else fails I will now play it the why you have suggested.
@PianowithNate8 ай бұрын
@@Andrew-rz7qt I suggest you play it in whatever key suits your voice best. It is | I V | ii | I V | IV | no matter what chord you start on. Here I'm teaching it in G like Bob Dylan's 1973 recording. Guns and Roses does it in F#. If you want to play it in A like you mention here (which indeed Bob Dylan did for some more recent live performances) go for it! Just because it has been covered and interpreted differently and in different keys in various live performances does not make the original wrong.

Perché sposti la mano destra per prendere gli accordi e non usi i rivolti? Grazie ti ho scoperto da poco sei molto bravo.
@PianowithNate Жыл бұрын
Buona domanda! Volevo rendere questo tutorial per principianti molto semplice e molti principianti possono trovare gli accordi più facilmente nella posizione fondamentale.

How do I identify what key this is in?
@PianowithNate Жыл бұрын
It’s in the key of G! All white keys except for the F is sharped (in the D chord). Big giveaway is also that it starts on the G chord and it feels “at rest” whenever you hear the G chord
