I'm getting the sense that Patrick Stewart thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to recite Shakespeare on the set.

Getting back to the roots of his acting career. There was also the scene in The Undiscovered Country where the Klingon general (Christopher Plummer) recites from Julius Caesar. "Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war."

@joelellis70357 жыл бұрын
Josh B, I'm well aware of Stewart's work with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In fact, it was his common lament, usually during scenes where they were depicting attacks on the Enterprise, "Sixteen years with the Royal Shakespeare Company for this!" So, it's apparent his enjoyment where he could recite Shakespearean monologues during his role as Captain Picard. I'm sure the writers did what they could to add these literary elements for his sake whenever they could.
@U2QuoZepplin7 жыл бұрын
Well what else do you do when you've got "Shakespearian actor Patrick Stewart at your disposal than give him a bit of Shakespeare to recite like he's back in the old day job. (poor guy , and just when he thought he was diversifying.

Based on interviews, Patrick Stewart was actually an overly serious jerk the first couple of shoots. Then, the rest of the cast and crew taught him to just have fun. After that, they all just had a blast all the time. In fact, there was a game where the cast would try to make each other laugh right before they started shooting. Apparently Brent Spiner (Data) was almost always the winner.

I can't share this because people who don't know the show would see those 1st season clips out of context, and as a result, would never give the show a chance in the future. LOL

0:14 That bit in The Naked Now where Picard does that odd laugh has never sat right with me. It always sounds like it's been dubbed on, but really badly.
