Starting Sunday, January 19th and Monday, January 20th you've got two options for Discipleship and Apologetics training; Sunday's 9:00 am and Monday's 6:30pm. Classes are held at Grace Fellowship Church on Malcom Bridge Rd.
Both classes are similar in nature and touch on many similar topics. The difference is that the Sunday morning class is more practical and equipping in nature, while the Monday night class focuses more on issues like origin, where did we come from. Purpose, why am I here? Reason, does any of this mean anything at all? Worth in value, does my life even matter? The problem of evil and suffering, if God is good in all powerful why is there pain and suffering? The silence of God, I have prayed and he does not hear my prayer. Is the old testament god a bully and is he different than the New Testament Jesus. Jesus tells us to love our neighbor while the old testament god told the Israelites to kill the Canaanites. How do way reconcile this apparent contradiction? What does the Bible say about all the transgendering that is going on in our culture today?
We believe the Christian worldview offers coherent, plausible, reasonable, intellectually honest explanations for these questions. We believe the Christian faith is an informed faith and that we are not groping in the darkness. The Christian worldview does not teach one has to stop thinking rationally, and give up on science in order to have faith and believe in God.
GK Chesterton said the problem with the Christian faith is not that it has been tried and is found lacking. The problem is that it has been found difficult and left untried.
We believe the Christian faith is an informed faith. The overwhelming volume of evidence that points to a coherent Christian worldview becomes compelling. Because of the overwhelming evidence we are no longer able to ignore that evidence.
If you go to a different church than me I would suggest you come to my discipleship class for Sunday school at 9 o'clock and then go back to your home church for the worship service. This will allow you to be discipled in a very practical way while at the same time remaining a part of your home church. After a period of time you'll be able to go back to your church and disciple people within your church. In doing this you will be fulfilling what Jesus told us to do in the Great Commission, Matthew 28:18 through 20, and what Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:2.
Hope to see you Sunday mornings at 9 or Monday nights at 6:30.
