Lmbo, Thank you Ma'am. That was the coolest and funniest way, I had ever seen to peel an egg. Love and Light from the Heart of Texas.

After making them on the stove for years, I can't wait to try the "steam" method! I did a test of sorts years ago, where I pickled eggs (with some onion, garlic, baby carrots and jalapenos) and tried them after several days.. The best eggs were pickled for 10 days.. any shorter and they didn't absorb much flavor from the mix, after about 14 days they became hard/ rubbery... FWIW

Going to give - all of this a try!! I enjoyed your joy as you demonstrated blowing the eggshells off! Kids! Ha! I am 52 and excited to give it a try! I may have missed it but - did you Natural release or Vent immediately? I am using an Instant Pot - and was told that it makes a huge difference if Natural release - which is way longer or if I manually vent it so it is quicker. Thanks in advance. Just a thought I watched a TV program called Doomsday Preppers a few years back and the lady who was featured on that particular show rubbed her eggs with mineral oil to do the same thing that the butter does, what would your opinion of that be I have no idea of mineral oil as a preservative for eggs I know very little about it actually, and would something like shortening on the order of a Crisco actually provide the same effect as the butter? And it seems to me it would take a little bit longer to go rancid then the butter. Any opinion you have of this would be appreciated thank you very much I love your Channel

Hello! This is totally awesome! I love pickled eggs, I knew of the water glass, and oiling the eggs, and thought the only way to preserve them was to water bath them. QUESTION...because my fridge stopped working years ago, and had become frugal, I’ve never replaced it, I’ve learned to make do without one, anyway, I know that to water bath preserves the eggs longer (how long, I really don’t know, could u tell me) ??? Also, I know u said doing eggs this way will be good for a couple of months (linger n fridge) SO, what would be ur best use by time, n month using ur cool method here leaving on the counter or n a shelf??? I’m going to pickle me some eggs because I love them, but want to eat them before they go bad. Please let me know! Thank u
@SurvivalHT
@SurvivalHT Жыл бұрын
I would eat them within 2 months if not refrigerated. I have gone longer on the counter but there is a risk so to be safe I wouldn’t go longer than 2 months unless they were refrigerated. I’m not sure of what difference a hot water bath would make because the center of the egg would not be heated in a hot water bath. It would just seal the jar better. So it may increase the self life but I couldn’t say how long if any.

Thanks for the great video. Could this be done with only vinegar?
@SurvivalHT

It can, it would just be very very sour. Adding 1/3 water gives it a better taste without compromising the self life

Question: Can you do this method with other things, when do you need to do a hot bath method. more or less is it safe just to use picking salt and vinegar for storage.
@SurvivalHT
@SurvivalHT Жыл бұрын
Hot water bath will seal them, but really it’s the vinegar that is preserving them.
