Unfortunately you're correct. I worked retail for many years and we could be sued for this. I saw customers all the time which i know stole stuff but as I didn't actually see the act of theft so there was very little I could do.

I'm not sure what else would make it obvious someone stole something other than a bulge. Cerainly taking guesses when customers steal is a terrible idea and can definitely get you sued.

@@JohnCrichton As i stated, they obviously did steal but the law is like that in the UK. In a shop in the UK, you could be sued yourself if you accuse someone of stealing without actually seeing the theft take place. From the video, you can see the suspected theives there but not the actual 'act' of theft.
