There are some very small (annoying) differences between some of the trim levels. The XLT does not have push start or passive entry as options. I realize it is a very small thing, but should at least come with the advanced tech package on the XLT. I am still deciding between the GMC Canyon AT4 and a Ford Raanger, but I would go with the Lariat trim w/ off road package.

On Ford's build & price site, the STX package is included by default on XL model. That seems like best option, otherwise gets expensive quick.

I recently towed a 1968 Jeep J3000 on a tandem flat bed for 6 hours across the desert with my long bed 20119 Colorado diesel and it handled it without any drama.

Get the Lariat with the FX4 package and advanced towing package and you basically have the Ranger Wildtrak that Ford didn’t give us for some reason (I would also add the 2.7 ecoboost but it’s not on the configurator at the moment for unknown reasons)

Checked all the new small trucks and to me the Toyota gives the most. Swaybar disconnect is a huge one that only toyota offers and even with the higher TRD off road options is $10K cheaper than the ranger.

Very good video. I ordered the XLT High package. I choose Azure Gray, with chrome package and 18” wheel in 4x4. Like the red but my last 2 trucks were red! I got my vin number and build date. Can’t wait!! 🛻. 💪🏼👷🏼‍♂️👍🏼

I think I’m gonna have to get one when they’re available with the 2.7. Probably looking at a xlt fx4. Just the base tow package is enough as I rarely pull anything. And a 10 inch screen is more than enough coming from a 2008 f150 so no fancy tech package needed. Just kinda wild it’ll probably cost about 45k. Depending on what the new Tacoma offers ford might just lose a lot of people due to overpricing

All the other midsized trucks have a far nicer interior imo. Plus no sunroof option? All the spy shots show it. To me it just seems like the Ranger is behind the others in a lot of areas already.

I feel like Ford underestimated Toyota. They have a long history of moving very slow with updates, but they went all out this time. Tacoma has ventilated seats, sunroof, power up and down tailgate, camera style rear view mirror and lot of accessories. The Raptor is the one many are waiting for and current plans will make it near impossible for a couple of years. In the meantime, Toyota will be selling a lot of TRD pro's and Trailhunters. Hopefully getting blown away by Toyota will get them to build the Raptor faster.

the problem with the Ranger Raptor is they are going to be so hard to get. the dealers are going to have a field day marking them up. I thinking of getting a XLT ranger as a daily for work. Driving my cummins everyday is getting annoying.

so, except for the Raptor, can you option the new Ford Ranger with "auto 4wd" with a two speed transfer case, where it will automatically engage and disengage the front axle if u drive on changing conditions? They mention shift on the fly, but I dont think thats "4A" (or what GM calls Autotrac)

I'm really glad I saw this. Sat in a tacoma, wasn't all that comfortable. Sat in a ranger and felt more comfortable. If I'd pick the ranger, I'm really not sure between the raptor and 2024 ranger. I'd rather some off road capability including bigger tires.

Yes, the new Ranger only has a 5 ft bed which is only 6" longer than the Maverick trucks on my videos.

I would buy the Raptor for several reasons. 1) I'm a gear head and if those HP/TQ number are close, the thing will be a little rocket. 2) As you mentioned ability to go/travel more places that the full size Raptor would struggle to get to without at least some "Arizona pin stripes". 3) Fuel economy will probably be a bit better than the full size during average daily use. 4) Resale value. 5) Fits in the garage. 6) The power in the bed would take care of a 12v compressor fridge easily. Not sure what other trim levels that is available on. 7) Edit/add. The full time 4x4 with lockers. Just adding lockers aftermarket would probably make up the difference in price without warranty coverage. This applies to either. The Topper EZ lift weekender package would make this one hell of just go now camping package. I bought a 2021 F150 4x4 regular cab short box just for that system. Have yet to buy it and play. I don't really need the bed space daily so having it ready to go outside of food and water is not a big deal to me.

I’m not a midsize truck guy but I usually buy the mid grade level so it would be the XL or XLT. The raptor seems overly specialized for my uses and the dealers are probably ready to add thousands onto already overpriced vehicles. I do like the interactive build site since there are none on dealer lots.

I ordered a 2013 Mustang GT and a 2021 F150 without paying dealer markups/market adjustments. If the dealer does not add that up front after putting your deposit down you basically get it back as soon as they sell it. You can just walk away and say no.They tried on the Mustang and I simply said we have a contract, give me my deposit back. They backed off.

It looks like the sliding rear window is not available on the XL?!? Nor is the step side bed. Not even an option. You can get an XLT for 2k more with those features. I'm thinking XLT with chrome appearance package, the available beige interior and red paint for me. A much better deal than the colorado. I'd take the base engine in the Ranger as it has a lot more power than the base motor in the Colorado and can be upgraded where as the BASE engine in the colorado cannot.

Right now. Dealers are taking orders. It is going to be a hot ticket for the rest of the year. I'm already hearing markups of $15k with dealers only getting one this year.

If Ford can make the Maverick at the price point they do, they can easily make an affordable version of a mid size truck. 100% agree! The tiny 5 foot beds are useless and look silly. Looks like Toyota and Nissan are the only ones left with the six foot bed. My irritation with Toyota is that if you want the six foot bed and you want the hybrid you are stuck buying the top end 'Trail Hunter" trim. But yeah, every time I see four doors and a tiny bed I always think "tell me you don't really need a truck without actually saying anything..."

New vehicle prices have risen 30% in the last 4 years. Running through auto loan calculators, a couple things. Prices will need to come down, or incentives will need to rise dramatically, and interest rates need to come back down.

I did the XL 4wd with their tow package for fun because it was what I "built" when the Ranger first came back. With the crew cab and STX package mandatory now, the price went up $5,000. Not bad considering but I'd still rather have an ext cab.

Yes, I agree. I only paid $31k for my Maverick XLT AWD I show in my videos in Park City. Not as capable as the Ranger but 200 less lbs of payload and just 6" less bed, I am good.

To expensive for me. I'm pretty dissapointed. You can get ah F150 XL STX for 50 grand. The only thing you lose is the screen, power seats and heated seats. And you'll get the same fuel economy with the 2.7, or if you choose you can still get the coyote. I feel like this is exactly why people stopped buying these back in 2011.

@@fordmaverickmaniac I watched the video and all I can say is that it's pretty crazy where we are with truck prices. The Mav is obviously the better value in the long run. I used the builder yesterday to price a Ranger XLT the way I would want it. It came out to 45 grand, and that's not even counting the price of the 2.7 liter engine I would want. With that it will probably be 47 grand. unbelievable.

The benchmark for mid size is the Tacoma. Until the price is released, I can't see why someone would want to order one vs another. Then after price is released, why would you order without sitting and driving all of them.

Has a bit more tq but raptor has more hp. Also it's proven abroad. New Tacoma is brand new so we won't know if it's reliable. The new tundra and sequoia came out and they have been having issues.

@@chezzyperson3339 on paper the Ranger raptor is better. Has front amd rear locker, full time 4wd and in my opinion better suspension. Oh its been proven abroad. They have had raptor abroad for awhile and so far its good. Also the 3.0 ecoboost has been around awhile and is pretty reliable.
