I'm 65 and it it shows I'm sure but I grew up in an era where we had an internal compass that was quite reliable and we could tell by how it felt when we spoke whether we were telling the truth, whether we were responding properly to someone else's point, whether we were using appropriate words to get our point across in a way that was not demeaning or condescending to the other person. Where I see this more than anywhere else is on social media is where any woman (who would objectively probably be a four or a five) shows off some new outfit which is probably perfectly nice and looks fine... then gets 100 men and women telling her that she's a 10 and that she is a goddess incarnate and people do this hundreds of times and it lends itself to complete delusion about how attractive they are and in kind of a sick twist leads to them totally reject normal men... after all, who among men is fit to walk beside a goddess who is a 9.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. On the one hand, I'm angry because deluding women in the way that social media currently does does them a huge disservice but also I'm sad for modern young men, 80% of whom young women rate as below average statistically. Ugh. It just feels like we are going down a bad road as my dad used to say.

There is an apple in the middle of a round table and people are sitting around the table in a set chair and asked to describe what they see. One person sees a perfect apple, another sees a good apple with a small bruise, another an apple with a bite taken out of it. It's the same apple, the truth is the apple looks good from one side, another has a bruise, and another has a bite, the difference is the perspective. One truth (the apple), multiple perspectives. Now the artists are all asked to draw what they see. The difference in value of the perspective is now depicted by the artist. One draws a cheesy quick cartoon, another does colored painting, and another does a deep textures pencil masterpiece. One would think only the perfect side could yield the best artwork. Not always the case.
