Actually it was the opposite, difficult as that is for this incredibly biased audience to hear. Finklestein spoke like a demagogue. He talked about no power and no water, when israel provides only 45% of the power and 10% of the water in Gaza. Finklestein went on and on about the Israeli public not wanting a 2-state solution (would you after Oct. 7), but fails to mention that the Palestinian population, in poll after poll, support the Oct. 7 massacre, would vote Hamas back in (if they had the chance to vote -- Hamas is in the 17 year of its 4 year mandate, and Abbas, president of the PPalestinian Authority, is in his 18th year of a 5 year term.. Finklestein made a big deal about that law professor not drawing a distinction between "targeting" civilians and "indiscrimately" firing at them. Of course there's no difference. The only difference is that Hamas wishes it had the technology to target Israeli civilians, but it doesn't, so it fires rockets indiscriminately, hoping to kill as many as possible. The distinction is between those two and the non-targeted killing of civilians, in this case mainly because Hamas uses civilians as human shields and tries its best not to let them get out of harm's way. The death of civilians in Israel's assault on Gaza is no different than the bombing of Afghanistan or Libya, or what the U.S. and Brits did to Germany in WWII. (They killed more than 2 MILLION civilians, yet nobody calls THAT a genocide.) Finklestein shrugs off all the offers of a two-state solution made by israel in the past -- all rejected by the Palestinian leadership without even making a counter offer), and instead points to what israelis think now after the worst slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust. He's wrong on so many levels, and obviously has a problem with his own heritage. And yes, Dershowitz was right: Amalek means Hamas, not the Palestinian population. I'll leave it at that.
