Seen a lot of comments on how I mistook Trashcan's intent in the original video. Apparently he was making the point that if you take scissors out and it's just rock and paper, then "rock has no counter". Now let's be generous and say he meant "there's no counter to paper" then I guess he's saying "this thing is really good, you have to do it since it's OP - therefore it's not balanced". Balance isn't a great word for this but it is true that the unit strength isn't well balanced if there's just one or two super OP units and everything else sucks. A great way to make this argument without going on a deranged tangent is to just say "ling-bane is OP" and you can skip the entire ridiculous analogy. The funny thing is he seems to think that ling-bane is OP and you can't do anything else so it's too fast for him to enjoy playing. Apparently he's never watched Serral and other top players wall off with evo + roach warren, skip ling speed and go straight to 2-base roach. One of the most solid ZvZ styles I've been recommending to players for years. Anyone who's too stubborn/struggles with micro and doesn't like ling-bane, I've always told to just learn that style. Apologies for the wall of text ;)

I understood him like comparing modern zvz to ancient pvp in like 2010 to 2014 or sth, when three non-cheese strats were possible: 3 gate robo, gateway build, airtoss. No matter which one you picked, you were either even with your opponent, if he picked the same strat or you were way ahead (robo beats gateway beats airtoss beats robo beats.....) or behind and you could not pick anything that is not a massive gamble. Which might(!) have been kind of true in the old days in pvp. Even alphastar pvp had the problem that 4gate build encourages to make it invent robo build to beat the gate build which then made it invent airtoss to kill the robo build which made it invent 4gate build to kill airtoss etc.... But in his mind - if i recall correctly - there were only two viable builds: muta and baneling, that beat all other builds...which is a) bullshit and b) contradicting his rock-paper-scissors analogy as it would mean that for example rock and paper are valid and scissors isn't, independently of what your opponent chose. idk this guy seems weird. Hope he won't find hate because of his fame he gained here and in the forum. He has already enough of it inside of himself.

Dunno if that helps explain his original video: He said just “rock paper” when he said rock has no counter. He took out scissors, so it was just rock and paper. But then saying rock has no counter when paper counters rock. So it’s still just as dumb. Just his example was removing prices from Rock Paper Scissors to break it. As someone who loves to play zerg badly as a filthy casual, even I can notice mistakes. At 4min, im aiming for 12-24lings... Then immediately transitioning based on scouting. He went into this game thinking he was gona lose cuz 'smurf' but in reality, hes typing too much and his useful APM is probably closer to 80 lol. Low enough I feel I have a chance as a scrub. xD I send 2-4 lings to scout off initial brood then send em at 2min while rushing my 12-24; attack SCVs and burrow is useless; get the attack speed or just get your lair after 12-24 and transition muta or Hydra to confuse them then actually dump into my main goal. He just... Didnt have ANY plan. You can get away with building slow in zvp or z but NEVER against terran and thats why his WR is 10%. Hes not adapting his play style and calling them OP. x'D Pros struggle to read me because of doing this stuff... But I cannot match a good players ability to army analyze and counterbuild but I can micro 2 armies semi-competantly.

I don't think ZvZ is unbalanced but it could be. Unbalanced doesn't mean everyone has an equal chance at winning. It means that units are not balanced in a way which makes the game rewarding.
