Nice video! I've been told that a lake local to me holds an 18lb pike so I will have to try and catch it. I like to fish for carp but the colder temps make that quite a slow process with low expectations of catching. It's nice to see someone using circle hooks. I've had great experience with them for catfish in Thailand (2008ish) and sharks in Florida (2013) many years ago. I use them here for pike with dead baits and on lures. (Regarding Thailand. People used to fish in the margins for huge catfish. Often they'd miss the fish. There'd be a huge commotion (a massive bow wave) and the fish would be gone before they even knew to strike. Well that was when I used a circle hook. I'd just tighten up and hook up every time! It was fantastic.) Well I plan on taking my 6yo daughter Jessica with me and hopefully she gets to see her first pike! Keep up the great content!

Circle hooks are great for looking after the fish, I never use trebles...haven't for over 10 years now. Good luck with that 18lb fish, thanks for watching! Mike

Great video and thanks for the info about your favourite hooks. Can I please ask what the hooklength material is please? I like the way you can tie a loop in the end of it and then loop on the hook. Do you think the angle created by coming out of the back of the eye helps hooking efficiency?

Don't bother to reply to this Mike as your rig making videos explain everything beautifully; thanks!

That 1st pike was much bigger than 13 1/2 lbs. Looked like a twenty to me...

Just found your channel and subscribed. Enjoying your pike fishing videos. I’m going to do some more pike fishing this winter and looking to start using circle hooks. I’ve had one trip already, but missed the fish, think I hit it a bit early! How long do you wait before you wind into it? Would be good to show it in one of your videos, from bite to strike! Keep up the good work 👍🎣

@@spikeymikeyangling6218 what’s your hook up percentages, compared to using treble hooks?

I like the idea and give it a go but I have hooked them through the cheek so I am going back to the drawing board
