A lot of modern lures don't seem very robust to me. They cost good money and get destroyed by the first fish that hits them... Not to mention that you're leaving plastic inside fish and the river.

In all fairness the Lure with the missing tail was my ‘go to’ lure and has seen a lot of use andthe mouths of quite a few pike. I do know what you mean though. I try to check the mouths of all Pike prior to releasing but sometimes it is difficult to see if a small section of the tail has already been swallowed.
