Hi Chuck, I'm glad you enjoyed it, Pikes Peak was amazing, as the train climbed the scenery became more dramatic.

Beautiful rail coaches and rail road. I got to learn so many unusual tourist spots on your channel Tim. Thanks for all your efforts to bring it to the notice of travel enthusiasts. Nice video 👍👍

Hi Anjali, thank you for your kind comment, it is appreciated. The world is full of amazing sights and sounds, I'm lucky enough to be able to see some of them. I originally bought my first video camera to record my children growing up, over the years I also gained a lot of enjoyment from filming my hobbies and the places I visit. The advent of You Tube has allowed me to share some of these experiences and speak to people all over the world who share my interests ;-)

That is a trip I would love to make, by train rather than car (or bicycle!) to better appreciate the climatic change and biome change. I always admire the plants that survive against all odds. Canadian Rockies? Great video trip. Love the stills at the end too.
@Timsvideochannel17 жыл бұрын
Hello Terry, Pikes Peak is in Colorado State USA, the Rockies here are a continuation of the Canadian Rockies. Most of Colorado is more than a mile high, Pikes Peak is over 14,000 feet, hence the alpine vegetation. My Colorado adventure was amazing, if you get the chance to go, I'm sure you will love it.

Thanks Tim. More than a mile high. My list is getting longer!

So what are the best seats to reserve? I see that the train has 2 seats on one side and three on the other. There are also 3 train cars. Thxs love your video
@Timsvideochannel13 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride, if I remember rightly, there are a couple of seats at the front on the left hand side next to the driver where you get a great view, otherwise any left hand side window seat is good, as you can see in the video.

Nice, no steam anymore? Tim, I usually only use fade transition. Some people try to get too fancy and ruin the video.
@Timsvideochannel17 жыл бұрын
Hi, there was no steam running when I visited, although there are recent videos on you Tube showing a steam loco in use such as this one - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJC9eZmnosp0pqc I usually stick with a simple fade because the picture is more important than fancy effects.

Tim, could I make a little suggestion? It's great you're using transition effects because they smooth out the segue from one scene to the next, but I think you've used only a fade(or dissolve as some software versions call it). If you have a "soft wipe effect, try that one, set it to wipe right-to-left if your image is moving right-to-left, and vice-versa, you'll see the effect for yourself, it fits well with the movement of the image. Cheers!
@TerryMcGearyScotland7 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I don't know if my version of iMovie has that soft wipe business but now I'll have a look.

Hi Neil, I use Pinnacle Ultimate to edit, it has an awesome array of fades and wipes. I used them a lot in my early videos, but as time has passed I only use 3 or 4 effects now. I found that I liked the effects one day, but when I watched the video a few days later I'd change my mind. In the end I settled on using just a few. I appreciate your input and I have just used a flip fade for the first time in ages. Occasionally I do wedding videos and I tend to use more fades and wipes in them because there is great library of effects to use in Pinnacle. Take care. Tim.

I bought and installed Pinnacle Studio 18 a little over a year ago, found it to be a somewhat steep learning curve in the way it behaved, in comparison to my Power Director 14 Ultra, and even Power Director 8 Ultra. Yes, Pinnacle has a lot of good effects, but where Pinnacle falls down is in the use of PNG transparencies. Pinnacle won't recognise the "alpha" background which is supposed to be transparent when applying a PNG image as an overlay. Since I discovered Paint.Net, I've been creating title overlays for my videos, first in Paint as Bitmap files, then carrying them over to Paint.Net to convert them to PNG transparencies which, when applied in PD14 Ultra, don't need to be chroma-keyed because the transparent background works brilliantly. As to the wipe transitions, I just thought I'd suggest them as you have quite a bit of scene changes showing different stages of ascent up that line to Pike's Peak and the wipes would highlight the change of scenery as your ride continued. Cheers! Neil.

Hi Neil, I get on with Pinnacle, although version 21 is a bit erratic, I'm sure the next update will sort that out. At the moment I use Version 20. I had to buy a high spec computer for it to work well. 4K works OK but it sure slows the computer down and I am not convinced the slightly improved picture is worth the extra effort. I have no problems with the effects in version 20, but I have to admit they didn't always work as intended in earlier versions. Just for you I have included a few extra fades and wipes in the video I am uploading today.All the best. Tim.
@neilforbes4167 жыл бұрын
Hi, Tim! Thanks for the extra transitions(in advance), As I said, I have Pinnacle 18 on my computer, along with Power Director Ultra versions 8 and 14. Does Pinnacle 20 allow PNG transparencies? Pinnacle 18 Doesn't, that's what disappoints me about it, though some of the transition effects are stunning, I'd have liked to be able to use them with my self-created title graphics, which are PNG transparencies. That's what stops me from using Pinnacle more often. Cheers!
