Eh I like the best ending.. Really shows that Oilmar really appreciates the pikmin for helping him and just wants to hang out with them longer, but he knows he has to go back.. while the pikmin do their little Leaf goodbye to him.. It's very sweet and heart warming..

I feel like the Mamuta isn't actually friendly with Pikmin. At least not in the way you'd think. Yes it flowers them, but why does it still slam them into the dirt after they've already been flowered? I imagine Pikmin avoid it because it won't let you leave its garden area and be forever planted. It won't kill pikmin, but it's a massive nuisance to them even if they get a small benefit. Compare that to Olimar who seemed to massively boost their population while not leaving them stuck in one area, and I think it's obvious why they choose him over garden statue.

I like the idea that (btw Arlo said this in his Big Fat Review of Pikmin) the Mamuta was once friends with the Pikmin, but Olimar is actually the only violent one, and that the Mamuta would love to just spend time with the Pikmin peacefully instead of fighting for its life, but even put into that situation it still doesn't want to harm any of the pikmin

Pikmin 4 disproves that theory. The Mamuta goes back to being docile, only attacking if you attack it by any means.

2:01 The Wraith's first incarnation! 15:22 Olimar failed. But his downfall has sparked inspiration. For now the Pikmin have a creature that may yet become the greatest of our kind. It resides in the earth as a seed, awaiting it's rebirth into the swarm. And soon the hour of his rebirth shall be at hand. Jokes aside, I think it would make for an interesting side story fan work whatever to describe the story of Olimar after the bad ending. I mean I could imagine him finding treasure found in the second game and using them to build a new ship out of these and anything salvageable left from the Dolphin.

It kind of bums me out that they never elaborated on the connection between the Mamuta and the pikmin. I doubt that Pikmin 4 will acknowledge it, as the Onions lost their triangular markings, and it seems like Pikmin 4 will do it's own thing, unconnected from the first 3 games

It wasn't until a year or two ago that I heard there was a bad ending so I searched on youtube. I was shocked, quite disturbing. Never had it happen to me while playing.

How'd that error during the end of day cutscene not get caught? The one during the average ending too. I thought there was a bit more consideration put into this version of the game. At least we don't have the incorrect sampling rate from the wii version, although I do miss the full pointer controls.
