I love that dual cockpit & forward cam view. You can kind of get a feel for how the plane handles.

Interesting the capt said the speedbrake was armed when going through the checklist yet it wasn't, which the 1st officer quickly noted. Not having a go at the captain, but a good illustration of CRM and importance of checking each other.

That is the whole point of checklists.

Yes. Nothing wrong or anything to be ashamed about at all. A perfect example of really good CRM and communication and a good relationship between the two pilots....... (っ◕‿◕)っ ☆☆☆☆☆

This is a 747-400 that LH isn’t flying anymore, they do have 18 747-8’s or Intercontinental’s I’d love to see some videos of the new model.

Why is something dripping around the 1:00 mark?
@oOFLOM1996Oo8 жыл бұрын
I flew once on an a380 and all of a sudden a flood driped on me. It was condensated water from the AC. Same here

0:56 some water drops on the dashboard!? Condensate? Shouldn't happen near the electronics right? ;) Or is all the electrical equipment water-proof in the cockpit (maybe someone spills coffee; shouldn't cause a crash)?

Don't worry,you can spill as much liquid in the cockpit,it will be fine,it is all waterproof,the only thing you have got to do if you spill something a lot(not the case here) is to report it to maintenance. Also,that drop was just the AC. Hope I helped you out :)

When on the manual approach, how does the pilot know how much to descent. Is it exprience?

They follow the ILS glideslope or, if they're flying visual, PAPI lights are a great help.

Is it normal to have aircraft that are on approach on the same radio frequency as ground traffic? Because I'm hearing alot of 'turn left on xxxx' kinda stuff when they are on short final?
@BelowMinimums8 жыл бұрын
That's the tower giving the arrivals their first taxi instructions. Tower will give the arrivals their instruction to turn off the runway and sometimes the first taxiway to enter then tell them to contact ground control. Also at LAX there are two sets of dual runways (24L/R and 25L/R) and there is a taxiway between the runways. Tower has control of the taxiway between the runways so if an aircraft lands on 25L and exits right they'll be on the taxiway between 25L and 25R and will stay with tower until they cross 25R.

why did he choose engine 3 to be shut down?
@SuperMortenMadsen8 жыл бұрын
I believe some captains use thrust diff on large aircraft like the 747 when making sharp turns while taxiing. Engine 2 and 3 are not very effective at this, since they are closer to the fuselage of the aircraft, and because of this they are shut down when on the ground simply to save fuel.

Looked like the captain darted for the nose wheel steering way above 100kts. Never been a fan of going there so fast. Flown Heavies for many years. Winds right down the runway and no runway slippery conditions. No need..
