Finally, a video where someone doesn't sit on the weld for 10 min. All the others I have watched today they are welding forever. I'm already nervous about putting too much heat anywhere on my barrel, and these guys are acting like it's their smoke break and gonna use all 15 minutes no matter what.

Could be wrong, but I believe that muzzle device is designed to have the pin and weld hole on the bottom, not the top.That’s how the GAMMA is designed. It’s a common issue to have that muzzle device timed upside down.

Learn from me before you pin and weld a muzzle device. look at suppressors, and decide which suppressor you might like in the future. Then pin and weld a compatible MD. I got a DDm4 with a welded on bird cage, but when I wanted a suppressor, I had to remove the old one, which is doable but a pain in the butt. Also used a mild steel so it can be drilled out. Don't use a drill bit or any hardened pins.

So without a torque wrench how do you know you haven't gone beyond the 15-20 ft/lbs spec when clocking muzzle device? Actually come to think, probably doesn't matter with a CW opposed to shims or jam nut.
@johnnyallen6526
@johnnyallen6526 2 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't you have let the torch set for a few seconds and let the argon flow after the weld, instead of pulling it away so fast? It doesn't look that great either. Leave a bit of the pin protruding, chamfer the hole in the muzzle device so that the pin will flow into it. Seems like an awfully long time to keep the arc on too...ballpark 10 seconds?
@JenkinsStevenD
@JenkinsStevenD 6 ай бұрын
This is probably a stupid question but I see everyone tig welding their muzzle devices on with just the tig welder and no filler rod. Why is that? I'm about to use air-hardening A2 tool steel rod as the pin and was going to use filler rod of unknown type on a muzzle device. Muzzle device is 17-4ph SS. I'm fairly new to tig welding though.
@ShootingGallery1
@ShootingGallery1 6 ай бұрын
So that’s not a stupid question at all to my understanding it all depends on the size of the hole that you drill in the muzzle device. You don’t need to go that far into the barrel the carbide drillbit that I had was the same size of the hole that I drilled, so there was no need for filler rod, and you don’t have to go crazy with the pin weld as long as you get a good amount depth into the barrel words not going straight through obviously, and you welded with that pin is that suffices as the pin and weld

You're not supposed to use a crush washer to time a muzzle device you're supposed to use shims... Timing has nothing to do with whether or not the circle is at the top . Timing has everything to do with bottoming out the muzzle device with the top and bottom in the correct orientation. You can't bottom out the device with a crush washer... Anyone want to chime in?
@unashamedly1776
@unashamedly1776 3 жыл бұрын
My understanding has been that, if it's a mount for a suppressor you don't use crush washers as they aren't perfectly concentricity; but for just a muzzle device crush washers are fine.
