Your dolls are so darn cute. I have at times added things to my to do list that I did that weren't originally on the list. Someone said that's cheating. I don't think it is, it helps to show where time went and can be helpful prioritizing things for the future. I like a list that is written too. A long time ago someone suggested crossing off completed tasks, etc. in red so that it stands out more. I used to do this and there is something to seeing all those red lines that made me feel better.

We have six "kids." The oldest is 22 years older than the youngest. I was 42 when I had the last addition to our family. As a result, I spent several years loading up little kids to taxi big kids. It was exhausting, frustrating, and so wonderful. And, yes, I got lots of sewing done, but I had to learn to sew a bit, cook a bit, clean a bit, and it eventually all got done.

I also raised three teenagers, although they went to regular school. They can be very intense, very needy, and very dramatic. Mine were all boys. It was crazy. My grocery bills were enormous. There were lots of silly fun times

How ironic! Just the other day, I was telling myself that I don't have to spend hours on something to make progress. Like you, I'm an "all or nothing" kind of project person. I want to be able to lose myself in my task for a few hours or I don't want to begin it at all. I need to start, and I will get going and eventually a feeling of accomplishment regardless of how long I'm able to work at the task. Thanks! I really appreciate your message of encouragement and confirmation. 😀

I’ve always added things done that were unplanned to my list. Because you can’t plan every single thing you do. I think if it as my To Do & Done list. I used to do a paper list, but now I do my lists in my phone. I like that I always have my lists (to do, grocery, projects, etc.) with me. Love this post. And everything about you! ❤❤❤

I only have my son but I took care of my brother's 2 and his best friend, who was like another brother, daughter as well. So when they wanted to do something and I had my list of things I needed to do I would bargain for a trade. Usually they wanted to go swimming so who wants to vacuum, dust, and sweep? I would clean the bathroom, and everyone hated dusting so I would have to remember who did it last time and the got to use the swifter to sweep. (Most loved job, seconded was vaccuming.) They got to swim and I could mark off a few things from my list.

So, I just found you about a month ago and I just love and appreciate everything you do on here. The tutorials are GREAT, and so are your patterns. I'm cleaning my sewing room today and put on this video to listen to and yes, teens are definitely more needy, haha, and more fun too! I too am currently teaching my teen son to drive and its been a bit crazy...let's just say we're "getting there". Anyways, thanks again for all the videos and I too am a mystery fan. (I thought I was the only one my age who watched Murder She Wrote);) God bless from a fellow Kentucky transplant.

I have 2 teenage daughters and I think you're right about how they still need you. It's different to when they were younger but they're still how I spend a lot of my time. They both love crafting and this means we can see etc together, which I love. I am also a fan of Agatha Christie and so is my youngest daughter, we actually went to her holiday home last week. It's only an hour and a half from our house. I love the video and it was great to see your week and how you juggle everything.👍

i definitely add the things i did not plan to do but did do to my to do list(whew! a mouthful lol) just to check them off! especially if it took a while etc. because i like to account for the time. i am often distracted and go off on creative tangents. i get very down on myself if my list is mainly undone, but ive created or organized a thing to perfection in that time. i did not waste the time time, but until i started writing down the rogue projects it felt that way. write it and check it i say!

Hi, loved your blog today with all your interesting thoughts and ideas on life. I’m a great grandmother now and my husband and myself are building our dream home ourselves, not builders. So I do have to make time and find time for sewing because sometimes we really need the escape that sewing brings us, thank you.
@janeybeasley9525 Жыл бұрын
I love your videos, so thank you for that. I’m now a Nana so past the stage of having other people stopping me stitch but when my children were tiny, I used to put my sewing table and machine in the play pen and let the children play around me, that way we were all safe and I was right by them so they were happy with that! I did it this way cos I have yet to meet the toddler who liked being penned in! I also used the same idea to get ironing done. My kids were teenagers 20 plus years ago and I think the world has changed even in that time, so I was a taxi mum and got used to using pockets of time as you suggest but they also were able to be quite independent in quite a lot of ways. I loved the teenage years, they were my favourite part of the parenting journey. I love your doll patterns and I’m looking at which one I’ll make for my granddaughter for Christmas this year. ❤

I love your podcast. I loved this one very much. I use apps a lot but not for to dos - I need paper and pencil. I too have added a task I completed to my to do list so I can cross it off. I learned in a class to have a monthly to do list then create a weekly to do list for the week I’m in taking things from the monthly list. Then each day add items from the week list only what I can get done that day. Things that don’t get completely done can be pushed to the next day. It gives a great sense of accomplishment to get thru my day’s to do list. Oh I love the dolls you had in this podcast. I just ordered and downloaded it. I sew for a charity for kids that need to leave their home. They leave with nothing. I think this doll will be loved by many.

I just love this video! You and your family are adorable! So I’m retired! I’m in retired mode. My life is almost as busy as when I raised my family. Lol. I volunteer, babysit, sew, craft, see friends and family. I find that if I don’t schedule my happy place time (sewing and crafting) I get a little cranky. Do I am learning to put my time in my planner. I recently started to learn how to refinish furniture so I don’t have to buy new. Btw. I love that doll. I must make my grand daughter one. Even though she is 9, she loves dolls! I have got to buy that pattern. You are a breathe of fresh air when I watch you. @@PinCutSew aw that's awesome! I like it here as well. I am originally from here and no matter how many times I left I always came back home. My husband and I are both veterans so we have seen other places and there is no place like home. The Kentucky state fair is coming up soon. I always put something in to be judged and hopefully win and least a ribbon of some sorts lol. I put in a quilt I did once and it took 3rd but it was a beginner applique and my stitch in the ditch needs a lot of work but not bad for my first one. You should put something in next year. I think you can still enter something maybe but if course there is a late fee. It is just fun to see what others put in and then it's exciting to see if you won anything. The derby events around here are fun as well which I am sure you saw this year what all is out there to do during the derby. If you ever need to know anything about the area don't hesitate to reach out. 🙂
@PinCutSew Жыл бұрын
I’m looking forward to the fair! We are going to try to stay here if the army allows, and retire. We’re renovating a midcentury house, we’d like to stay and enjoy it haha. And my daughter Natalie is dancing with the Louisville Ballet, so she’s committed here. We’ve lived in 7 states and I didn’t know if we’d ever find one we liked well enough to want to stay, but we finally did!
@tammywoyak5477 Жыл бұрын
@@PinCutSew that's awesome! It would be nice if they would let him retire here and not move to another place again. There are some really nice Mid century homes in the old Louisville area. Since he is so close to retiring I hope you all do get to stay . If I had stayed in I would have retired in 2005. I really wish I could have but life happens when you end up being a single parent with two small kids.
