I have much respect for a man who is building his dream. I have so many more videos of yours until I catch up, but with everyone I watch, I root for your success. It is easy to see why 39.3k subscribers with more I'm sure as time goes on enjoy your channel as much as they do. Your workmanship is beautiful.

I worked with an old native man who was a drywall finisher. He used a platform made from a 8 foot 2x12 and 2 upside down 5 gallon buckets screwed on for legs. It was pretty sturdy and light. He called them his bongos.

You could always attach the last piece to the last complete board before putting it up and also cut at an angle against the wall to be able to get it in the grove with minimal gap against the wall..

The most handy thing to have around is a set of just above the knee sawhorses. Would be perfect for something like a platform. Mine get used to cut sheets of ply, paint furniture, kids table at the Canada Day BBQ, al sorts. In fact, I got rid of the waist high sawhorses last year because I never used them and they were always in the way when I wanted the shorter ones.

@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin don't know what his look like but judging from his other stuff, they're probably insanely heavy. Just build them with 2x4's. There are 101 plans on the internet.

All you need are two ladders! It will be much sturdier and you can change the height if you need to have the ladders facing each other and slide your platform on whatever step is the proper height! Simple! And much safer

I'm not sure why you picked pine but I can see it is much more pleasant to look at compared to drywall. That will be more interesting to look at during the long winters. Low maintenance too I would think. It's looking like a home now. Maybe you could mention how much insulation R value you have in the roof in a vid?
@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin

Gordon I can't stand drywall. There is R28 in both floor and roof, and R22 in the walls.

Pine is nice, but it will be yellow over time. In my cabin I used a lacquer, without color, that had an UV-filter, it made the surface not very shiny, but a little. It has prevented the yellow tinge - in spite of it being many years now, since we put it up.. Just a suggestion - depends on what you like.

When installing your cross brace, one end should be connected to the vertical leg (as you did). The other end must be connected to the horizontal section. Makes for a stronger bracing and less wobble. A couple of cross braces is added insurance. One question: How in the world did you come across such a beautiful piece of property. I might get tired of living in such a place - it would take a few hundred years!
