I want to make a disc shooter that can be attached to the arm, and I want to add a control system to it, basically when the palm "blocks" the shot, the disc shooter will not fire. So I thought to connect this sensor to perform this operation, do you think it is correct? Does it suit my needs?

FYI you can click the Serial Monitor button at the bottom of the code windows in TinkerCAD to get a virtual esrial output, so you dont need an actual arduino for most testing

Very Educational. Is it possible to detect passing objects using ultrasonic sensors?

Yes, you can detect objects passing in front of the sensor since you will see a brief drop in the measured distance, then once the object has passed, the distance will go back up.

Please, explain the declaration of variable, "long duration, inches and cm;". What I don't actually understand is the "long". What is it and what is it used for?

340 m/s is not the same as 29 μ*s/cm. That’s like saying 1 m/s = 1 s/m Also to add insult to injury, 340 m/s is not the speed of sound. It’s 343 m/s.
