lol, Sometime in the 1990s somebody had the good sense to put out the remix instead of the original version. I love this beat but the remix just gives it a popular feel. This beat makes it a classic to a true hip hop head, but the remix just crossed it over more.

as far as real hip-hop being heard like it should be....i totally agree with rb0880!! Not unless you are a young'n yourself, you gotta admit that. Real hip-hop don't do any good for the masses if its put in a category where it can't be heard. The masses don't know what underground hip-hop means so they won't pay attention to it!! but we do, so i think that's all that matters if you ask me!!

hate to break it to you az but the masses didn't get it back either. hip hop popularity has expanded thanks to these new mainstream crossover artists more so than it ever would have back then (aside from a handful of tracks). the difference is, back then, hip hop WAS underground and now REAL hip hop resides on the underground.

No comparison. "Pink Cookies..." is lyrically superior to "A Bay Bay". Lyrical skill was the foundation of Old Skool Hip-Hop. Except for a handful of artists, you can't say that about today's "Hip Hop".

@Sensaye25 I agree with you 100%, but west coast lyrics was a lot of profanity, labeled hardcore, but not nessarily creative......A lot of your eastcoast MC's could be creative without overdoing it with the profanity.

You can say what you want....if this so called crossover artists are supposed to be so good for hip-hop then i don't see it. I don't see what artists like Lil wayne or drake or nikki or j-cole or any of these youngsters are doing good for hip-hop!! I think hip-hop should go back to what it used to be because if a non-rapping fucker who was only known for being on tv shows can all of a sudden get a million dollar deal from someone and then be considered a good artist then the genre is bullshit!!
