Nice to see someone getting an early start on a career in music criticism! Animals has been my number 1 for several years now, but I admit the gap is closing between it and some others for me. Glad to see it so high here. I have some disagreements of opinion but I'll only comment on The Wall. I didn't really like the Wall for years. I liked several of the songs on it but thought there was too much filler and forgettable songs. I listened to it again start-to-finish a few years ago and now it's one of my favorites from Pink Floyd. I don't usually like saying stuff like "you'll get it when you're older" because that's not always true and often just a way of condescending, but I think that's kind of what I'm about to say. The Wall is deeply autobiographical, the "filler" is still important parts of Waters' life. Roger Waters was 36 when The Wall released. I'm in my late 20's now and I think it clicked for me only recently because I'm getting closer to the age Waters was when writing it. I don't just mean that you have to relate to the lyrics or something for it to be good, of course the music has to still be good too. But the music does change appropriately with the life circumstances being described, and it repeats a lot of motifs because we have memories and trauma that cause us to perpetually look back.

That was a fun rundown. Animals is my favorite album too. In regards to The Wall being lower down on the list, I think it will go up in your estimation when you're older. If it's not your favorite musically, fair enough, but lyrically the subjects explored on this record are very heavy. You would need to have had a good amount of life experience to fully understand this. I say that as a kid who enjoyed Pink Floyd at your age, but found new elements to enjoy as an adult.

Woah, a very cool ranking! Animals is a great #1 pick, it's my second favorite (my fav song on it is definitely Pigs!) and your #2, WYWH, is my favorite. AHM in third place was fun to see - just recently listened to it for the first time ever, even though I've been into PF for twenty years...!! It is indeed a great album. And so is The Wall, my #3, haha. I'll have to check your Yes ranking as well. Keep listening to great music! 👍

My favorite album is Dark Side of the Moon because of how jazzy it is, and how easy it is to listen to; Animals is my second favorite album, with Sheep being my favorite. It was hard for me to listen to it because I wanted a more jazzy feel like in the Dark Side, but all albums have to be different. I saw them in concert for the Wall and it was incredible even though I was not a big fan of the Album or the songs, their performance was unbelievable because of their equipment. Their huge Quad speakers dominated, and I was blown away. However the Division Bell concert was EPIC! It was much more enjoyable than the Wall, and it had more of a psychedelic feel to it than the Wall. Thanks for your commentary.

About your review of The Dark Side Of The Moon... I am going to say that it's actually UNDERRATED. Let me explain. So, you say that the album is a bit boring, overrated and the vocals are not the greatest and that you just don't like some songs. Alright, understood. Now, let me explain something. I never truly understood why DSOTM is considered the greatest album of all time. I also found it a bit boring. But then, when something in my life happened, something bad. Out of nowhere, I would listen to The Dark Side Of The Moon and I would completely forget everything that was torturing me. The thing is, this album is like a drug, it makes you numb to your pain. Makes you completely forget about everything. Whenever something bad or extremely painful happened to me, I would just put DSOTM on and out of nowhere, I just feel good again. This album was literally an addiction to me at that hard part of my life. I couldn't stop playing it. So, when you said that "On The Run" is a boring song, to me, it's one of the greatest songs ever created, it's gotten me through so much. You will understand what I mean when you get a bit older, when life get's a bit more tough. So, that's all I had to say. Your review is amazing and you have great taste in music. Keep going man!

I used to think the same about The Wall. About cutting out some of the songs. But over the many years most of those songs that I wasn't crazy about have definitely grown on me. So for me I feel it's actually an underrated album. But I'd say Obscured By Clouds is their most underrated album. DSOTM is favorite of theirs. I used to feel that way about The Beatles double white album too, but now love almost all of the songs on it. The only song I like off of Atom Heart Mother is If. It's good to see a young kid such as yourself so knowledgeable about classic rock.

I paid a visit to Battersea Power Station, building on the Animals cover, last December. It's been renovated into retail stores and flats. The cool thing is they have a museum detailing the history of the power station and, of course, the Pink Floyd connection. There's also a glass elevator that ascends in one of the smokestacks then sticks out at the top giving a 360 degree view of London. Very cool. I asked but they said none of the Pink Floyd members, so far as they know, have stopped by to see the museum or ride the lift yet.

Hey Berlic, I just discovered your channel; Amazingly fantastic introduction to you. I love you after one video. I've been a life-long fan since 1975, when I was your age. I haven't read most of the comments, but here are some Pink things to pass on. Obscured By Clouds is a movie soundtrack to The Valley (it never did well). If you listen closely to the final track, when the Aborigone is singing, you can hear a cough in the mix. Ummagumma was one side live, one side solo projects. Each member wrote about 10 minutes to express themselves. That's why you get Nick Mason's "The Grand Vizier's Garden Party". I listened to Meddle one night (1979?) while tripping on acid. I went the entire album staring into the members' eyes, one-by-one, back-and-forth, for the 40+ minutes without blinking even when I turned the LP over. Echoes always disturbed me. I was driving home from my girlfriend's house in Baltimore County, MD while in college one night listening to Echoes. A long and winding road through dense woods. When the song gets to the screeching synth and sound effects, I imagined wild mad men with axes and clubs descending from the woods to attack my car. Another night in HS (1979/80) I was tripping on acid and listening to Animals. When the guitar solo in Sheep came on, the music popped out of my speakers (written on staff paper) and bounced around the room in neon colors. Every time it bounced, it changed color. One of These Days was actually titled One of these days I'm gonna chop you into little pieces, which is what Nick Mason says in the song. They (or the record company) shortened it for the album. I have this on a BBC performance of the band, spoken by the host of the show, for verification. Keep up the good work, Berlic. I anticipate watching more of your videos.

Well, you made my day here. I wonder if kids your age can save rock ‘n’ roll with the love of it. The fact that you don’t really like The Wall is what impresses me the most. OK, so I’m 61 and from my point of view Pink Floyd was banned I found before they became famous at all. At least to the extent that they did after they did the Darkside of the Moon album, and then The Wall. It’s great to see someone else someone so young who likes some of the early albums and rates than higher than some of the later ones. My first Pink Floyd album was Atom Heart Mother. I remember that I had not heard of Pink Floyd and I bought the album because it had cows on it. My dad was a rancher and I thought that I could show him the album with the cows on it and I fell in love with it. And I spent a lot of time, trying to get friends to listen to the band, and none of them would ever listen to it, and they always wanted me to take off the music until the day. Darkside came out. I will admit, I like the album, but it was at that moment when I realized they didn’t wanna listen to any of the early stuff and that that was the only album they wanted to here I sort of threw my hands up in the air and said OK that’s it. I’m not gonna try and force Pink Floyd on anyone else and I continue to listen to the early music. Of course, Darkside of the moon was played an awful lot and it was the last Pink Floyd album I bought first release your first day of release, probably until the final cut came out. What are my favorite albums? I’m gonna just give you five the top five. Obscured by Clouds. This is also actually a soundtrack album. The most people do not realize it. I feel that this album represents the best of the band before they started Writing all the fantastic long songs, which I also do love. It just has a special place in my heart. Next would be Adam Heart Mother, Meddle and then Animals. The wall came out when I was in high school and all I can say is I hated it I didn’t even consider it Pink Floyd and while I understand your perspective may be different from my perspective anything that does not have Roger Waters and David Gilmour also on the album or not Pink Floyd and thus I do not count them as Pink Floyd.

Oh wow, this is splendid! Some moments ago I just left a message on your video showing your CD rack that Animals and Wish You Were Here are my two favourite Pink Floyd albums, and now I'm watching this! I won't pretend that it's not marvelous to get my opinion validated. :D Interestingly, many years ago while I first listened to Welcome to the Machine, I was driven off by its different sound from the rest of the album, but it has ever since become a highlight on the album for me. I agree that the real meat in Animals is the three mid songs. I do like Pigs on the Wing though, for how bright and sweet it sounds and how it paints a strong contrast against other songs. Something funny that happened once I listened to the song Sheep - one day a friend sent me a video of a parrot using its owner's iPad, to watch some videos of other parrots. Its owner mischievously messed around with the iPad but the parrot was so clever that it always managed to get back to the videos of its interest. Then I realised I didn't turn on the sound of my PC, so then I did, not knowing that I had Pink Floyd playing on the background. And there I was 6 minutes into Sheep. That ominous melody just made that parrot video super creepy and for a moment I thought it was the audio that came with the video.🤣🤣🤣

Hmm - interesting. Just to say that Pink Floyd is my all time favourite band and 'Comfortably Numb' is my all time favourite song. When I first heard it I found it so emotional that I literally cried my eyes out on my second time of listening to it and forever after that everytime I hear it. So you like the track 'Atom Heart Mother' do you? Well. I rate it very highly as well as do many PF fans, but strangely, the band actually hated it and if they had their choice would erase it from their memory. I think it's teriffic. Here is a video of (in my view) the greatest performance ever done of this piece. It's a band backed by a full orchestral concert with a large backing choir and the best word that I can describe this particular performance is 'EPIC'. If you like the track 'Atom Heart Mother', then I'm certain you'll absolutely love this particular version - best version that I've found on KZbin. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqPEZ3VrmtuFaNE

Good analysis & ranking. I don't agree with them all, but you gave your reasons, which is fine enough by me! Just a note - Obscured By Clouds is also a soundtrack album (to the French movie La Vallee), which lends to it's 'folkier' sound. Ummagumma was an experimental idea, where each member did their own songs with no involvement from the other members (Sysyphus 1-4 was Rick Wright, Several Species..., Granchester Meadows was Waters, Narrow Way 1-3 was Gilmour & Grand Vizier 1-3 was Mason). I'm with you on The Wall - it cracks my top 10, but it's definitely not my favourite! WYWH, Animals, Dark Side, Meddle & Obscured make my top 5. Cheers.

Even though Pink Floyd was a predominantly albums band and their albums were predominantly concept albums. I still have favourite songs rather than favourite albums. I mean, I thought the version of astronomy Domine on the first album was a really chunky bit of power pop. With interstellar overdrive, there are better versions elsewhere. I think as a concept album Darkside of the moon works almost perfectly and is really only let down by the last song, but that’s only my opinion.

@@opinion3742 At some point I should re listen to all their albums at some point, but I do really like (Meddle), (Dark Side of the Moon), (I Wish You Were Here), and (The Wall). I'm interested to re listen to (Animals) since I don't remember a whole lot about it and I've heard many great things about it and how it's not talked about enough which sparked my interest.
