I had this taxi ride from one of Moscow's airports into the city about 1999 past lots of half completed office and apartment blocks many needing to be restarted. The driver explained that they were being built with no money. All the contractors would apply their trades to the construction and would be paid with a share of the apartments when finished. It was all done on trust. On the CD player: Pink Floyd

It's a throwback for all of us, lucky listeners, to all the colourful memories of the past. Any colour you like is all your emotions mixed. Any colour you like is David's Guitar, Richard's keyboard, Nick's Drums and Roger's Bass. Any colour you like gives you the opportunity to select any colour you like and travel through it.

"...just every moment of it so precise and perfect artistry....". "Dark Side" certainly is that. Especially so when you realise that Claire Torry - who was called in to sing "The Great Gig In The Sky" totally improvised the whole performance ! Yes that's right - she was told to just do whatever came to her as she went along ! The result could / should have been chaotic, but is actually a melodious tune that has a structure to it ! Quite astonishing when you think on it.

This is by far the best version of Any Colour You Like I've heard. It has such a lovely blues groove to it. This might be the period when Pink Floyd were at their best, when they dared to experiment and allowed themselves to let loose. I once heard someone describe Led Zeppelin as psychedelic blues, and as much as I love Led Zep, I think that description fits the Floyds even better.
@henryalbrecht29306 жыл бұрын

Usually lyrics are expressed in words, but with Pink Floyd they are also expressed through music, without the need for lyrics. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, I say that a David Gilmour guitar chord, or Richard Wright’s keyboard equals a thousand words, you just have to close your eyes and open your ears to read them. In (Any Color You Like) the thought behind this song expresses the illusion that man has the power to choose. At least that's what Roger Waters said.

I still put on a pink FLOYD dark side of the moon when I come home cold and tired from work and it relaxes me. I've been doing this for years now.

Imagine just vibing to this live on an eighth of mushrooms or 200ug

Hey man I used to do mushrooms and acid, I’ve listened to dark side on acid. just wanna say God loves you man he changed my life a year ago, psychedelic experiences feel really real but I promise Jesus is the real deal, the other stuff is only a counterfeit of the true freedom you have in Gods love. Bless you man

Haha yo 200ug is too overwhelming for me man. I usually split it into half a tab and pop for a mellow trip. Damn fun.

This and Breathe are the two most listened to tracks on DSOTM to me! I love both. Breathe shows off Dave's Jedson steel lap guitars and this REALLY shows off Rick Wright..who is terribly missed! I'm privileged to have been able to have seen him play 4 times - flawlessly!
