This movie looks so different because it's based on another book. At the beginning of the 20th century, the writer Alexei Tolstoy began to translate the original fairy tale about Pinocchio, but he was so impressed that he composed a new story with a common beginning and called it The Golden key or the Adventure of Pinocchio (Золотой ключик или приключение Буратино). that's why the cartoon can look a little crazy, but for us it's a strange cartoon with familiar characters. I've never watched that one myself, but I can see that they kinda (really poorly) tried mixing Pinoccio with Buratino. Buratino (or Golden Key) had basically nothing common with Pinocchio except the main character. In Buratino there was a puppet show theatre, with main antagonist Karabas (who basically used child labour and was a cruel man) and a there were bunch of kids who worked in the theater. Except Malvina (the blue haired one) was a runaway in that version. The point of that story was that Buratino had to find the key, that was hidden in his father's home, behind the fake fireplace painted on the wall, before Karabas does. While Karabas was hunting Buratino to make him say where the key is hidden. Buratino never had a dream to become a "real boy" I also see what characters they added from Buratino in this movie but they are playing completely different role there. Overall yeah, pretty shitty movie lol

As someone who has a degree in equine science, spent 14 years learning to ride, and worked on a Thoroughbred breeding farm in Kentucky, I'll be the first to admit I would love a movie about a kid who joins the circus and has an act doing trick riding (doing the flips and poses on the back of the horse while it's in motion, which is bizarrely animated correctly in this movie) and liberty work (riding/doing tricks with a horse without a bridle or harness). The beauty and difficulty of this kind of a performance, the relationship between man and animal who have to communicate via non verbal communication on a level that is advanced even for plenty of experienced horse riders, and the wonder and awe of the audience would make a wonderful movie. Think Greatest Showman if the movie was about a performer and his relationship with his horse. Why the hell this is in Pinnochio I have no clue. My jaw dropped when I saw that the reason the circus wanted him wasn't because of his trick riding, but that he could ride a horse without a bridle; spoiler alert plenty of people in third world countries ride their horses or donkeys this way. This should not be a big deal in this time period.

@Threeedognight2 жыл бұрын
it’s based on “Burotino’s adventures or The Golden Key” Russian analogue of Pinocchio. That is why the story is so different. The only similarity is that each story has a wooden boy. The original Russian story has the Country of fools and a giant talking turtle who is changed to a fairy in this film for whatever reason, but okay.

There's a whole genra of Japanese anime purposefully badly dubbed in French in the 80's (the main one I remember right now is "Ken the survivor"). Dubbed over the top and cheesy by choice, especially the violent vilains, to tone it down from violent and serious for kids. They have a cult following nowadays in France. The result is pretty funny (so bad it's good? I guess it's subjective), though any fan of the original animes would scream murder! XD

Yeah, man, we've got a lot of stuff like this. For example, for the series "The Big Bang Theory" we have a one-voiced translation from the Courage-Bambay voiceover studio. But it's done so well! Pauly Shore was the son of a stand-up comedian who worked with Mel Brooks. His father would go on to found The Comedy Store which his wife would operate. This kegrndary place would be pivotal in the early careers of Rodney Dangerfield, David Letterman, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Jim Carrey and others. Pauly Shore essentially grew up surrounded by some of the funniest people in the world. Imagine how natural and easy comedy must have seemed to him. Imagine how easy it would be for him to believe he could do it too. Nothing aboutthe phenomenon that is Pauly Shore makes sense unless you know about this background information

I met him in real life; he's an utter douchebag who thinks he's a lot funnier than he is. He claimed he was joking *with* me when he made some really awkward comment. It's.....it was an experience, I'll give it that.
